D5 - Transdimensional
it's a coherent story, trippy, pleansant and hypnotic with tracks flowing into each other and no weak moments. great all the way through. |

Atriohm & Encephalopaticys - 'Ukalen' tops it for me. Every single second in each track created by both artists is immaculate. Not a moment where I think "Eh, that could be a bit 'better'". The structure of every track is phenomenal, too, and the sound design is very inventive. Just listen to 'Hybrid Synthesis' or the title track to hear what I mean.
The other album is 'Playground of Spirit' by Fragletollet. Wow. This is the closest psytrance album I have heard that is 'conceptual'. Every track segues into the next, starting with a downtempo-ish track, progressing into more menacing territories, with recurring themes throughout. Such a ridiously unique sound in every track. My favourites have to be 'Reptilian Regime' for its downright primal feeling and the title track, which is so weird and dreamy and beautiful yet brooding. This album really does tell a story. The Princess Mononoke samples are awesome, too. They add to the narrative of the album.
The third album is most definitely 'Tits on Fire' by Grapes of Wrath & Meteloids. It's mind-blowing to think that it was released in 2004; the quality of the production easily surpasses a large proportion of releases that come out today. My favourite tracks are the ones by Grapes of Wrath ('Wackie Mackie'), though they are all very good. My favourite track by Meteloids is 'Bubble Skum' with its cool syncopated gater sound.
Two other notable mentions are 'Recursive Consciousness' for its intelligent, well-produced take on 'traditional' dark psy, and 'Tumult' by Derango, which is an absolute forest classic.

X-Dream albums. My favourites.
Etnica - the whole Album with Triptonite on it.
Flying Rhino - The First Flight .
The first Flight is the first Goa vinyl I ever bought in the 90s and probably my favourite album of this whole genre untill now.
