To shed some light on pricing...
Deerfield's is an AMAZING venue that is a gorgeous, locally owned retreat center just about 35 minutes from downtown Asheville.
If you want to celebrate life and music at one of the most gorgeous (and intimate) spots in N. America, then the price is worth it.
Three days camping, hiking trails, orchards, ponds, forests...and well, dark, hard beats for days!!! C'mon now!
Seriously, the spot is PRIME!
Make sure to get your tickets IN ADVANCE (making them $50 instead of $70!)...there's a limited number (remember, intimacy) and it will sell out.
The website will be up soon...it's being crafted now and the new URL will be:
http://www.ThosePeopleProductions.com
See ya there...oh, I'm so exciiiiittttteeeed!

unless the number of tickets available is ridiculously small, I highly doubt this. Then again, you probably know better.
Either way, this event looks awesome, good price, great lineup, and a gorgeous location I cant wait to be in again. See everyone there!
We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love... and then we return home. |

Man, this is gonna be a fun event... Jeff, I wouldn't worry about not enough nastiness being played at this one, between Brainlizzard & Aastral, Nikon, Devic, Primordial Ooze, Dimitry, Dragon, Psyonic, & myself I think there'll be a neuro overload...

You can say that again. I think i'll be spending most of the time sleeping and/or eating.

I'll bet that by the time this event is over, we'll have some dancefloor casualties that stomped their own trench. This will be my first journey to legendary Asheville and I really can't wait to go out there and have fun with all you wonderful people!

Too bad alot the people who made asheville 'legendary' are not at all involved with this event.

I must say its really nice to see Nikon on this lineup. I do think this is his first booking outside of the west coast.
He has some seriously twisted tunes, and preety damn good mixing....
Mubali your going to love Deerfields, best venue in the US i think, amazing spot...
Have a blast you all

Don't get me wrong... I think an all-cheese trance lineup would be way more boring than all-neuro.
Unforunately, there is a limit to the entertainment value the "motor bassline with delayed synth farts" aesthetic has for me when not juxtaposed with trance music based on (at least slightly different) formulas. That's why I'm playing a live set of miami bass trance with a heavy klezmer influence.

the key words here folks is balance, and flow. From a personal standpoint i think there needs to be light to counter the dark, fun meaningless cheese to balance the deep and serious...
but we are all different in our tastes and what tickles ones pickle may not be the same for the next gerkin...
Im sure this will be a good time for all, and hell even if someone is overloaded and bored with the music, Deerfields itself offers such a escape on can never really be bored at that spot
my 2 cents anyways.....

When it's done well, dark psy is the opposite of boring - it's a lot of fun - and I think this lineup can do it just right. Personally I am planning on playing some uber-funky twisted morning stuff, not at all like the bassline/fx you describe. So I think you might just be pleasantly surprised.

Thank you for all the support and nice posts .. I am excited about this event. Lot of good DJs. it will be a honor to share the decks with Mubali, Dylalien, Nikon, Bastard, Glowing Dragon and others..
definately, a birthday celebration for me ..
Imho, $50 for 2 nights of music is a good deal. Plus you get to hang out in deerfields. I have heard a lot of amazing things about the venue. Hope trancers from neighboring states can make it.
boom boom ...

well, i'm looking foward to hearing everyone's set! dark psy is definetly fun, I just can only absorb so much of the same mode of music at once.
some people have gone so far as to suggest that "neuro" trance is somehow more complex/evolved/spirtually charged than other forms of trance... doesn't really add to the appeal for me. just more hokey new age crap. it's all friggn' techno to me.
i think i might be basing alot my "aversion to hearing the same style of trance for a whole party" on goa gil's set in asheville last year. he spent all night cycling thru various medicore dark psytrance before really rocking out his daytime set with super psychedelic darkish psy...
minimal bassline + fx can be awesome too though... actually some of my favorite stuff, esp. for long mixes whilst DJing.. what i dont understand is how you can qualify something as 'neurotrance' because it has a 160bpm rumbling bassline and constant nord/virus squirting? let's hear more deeeferent trance-inducing techno-musics
esp. for those of us who aren't always spun out of our gourds... |
