So, yeah. This is my first attempt to create a fully psytrance track with accordance to the canons of the genre.
This is only the intro and some beat after it. I'm looking for input on the intro.
1. What would you add or subtract?
2. Does it suck and should I redo it?
I'm a bloody perfectionist and I just can't be self-critical to save my life (i think that everything i make sucks), so your feedback will be appreciated.
PS, quick off-topic question: with a free a account on soundcloud is it only 100 people that can listen to my tracks? 100 people per track or per account? How does it work?
THANK YOU!

really cool intro, nice atmosphere and theme, it gives an expectation of something grand to kick in. good job
But u should really consider bringing the bass-line down an octave, imo its to high, and it would give some nice sub. And i think u should skip the chord sitting abound 0.34 and just keep a single note.
I would bring down the sustain on the snare a bit and filter down some of the low frq. on the hats and snare in general.
Ohh yeah. fiddle and boom. Ableton addict :)
Been here since October 14, 2008.

Yea for being a perfectionist! First impression- this doesn't sound psychedelic enough. The sounds are too much like real instruments rather than psychedelic sounds (they feel like they belong in an epic trance or house track). Atmospheres sound good.
Kick is too thin and should be louder. Bass needs to be much fatter and probably brought down in frequency as mentioned above. I'd try messing with sidechaning the bass too, it might fit the track well- not necessary though.
I dig the composition of this, feels well thought-out. Keep going, you've got a lot of good ideas. Try focusing on the psychedelic aspect of sound design and you'll start coming up with something good .

Would it make the bass fatter if I layered a sine wave beneath it? Wouldn't it give me less space for leads if I made the bass fatter? Are you talking about sidechaining the bass to the kick? How heavily?
Off topic:
Ascension,
Where in midwest are you? I've been looking for ANY trance scene in Chicago. All we get is an occasional Infected Mushroom show. But that stopped being psy... or trance... They should shoot that guitarist.

I'd just work with the envelope of the bass to fill it out (maybe just turn the cutoff down a bit or adjust the filter depth, depending on what you made the bass with).

Okay the bass was made on an analogue synth with two oscillators.
So I moved the basslines one octave down now they all sound very undefined, you can barely make out individual note. I may have chosen a bad key (E), where the higher tonic was too high and the lower tonic was too low. I should try maybe A...
Can somebody point me to the basslines thread?
