This is a bit offtopic.. but i dont agree that is better to go to party for dj set and not for the Live performance.
i believe that live performances can be more spectacular than a dj show. Even if the music is not tweaked or different than the original, people feel the special night , their favorite group is playing for them, they see synths , mixers, computers , guitars, dancers, spectacular lights, the artists dancing and jumping with the crowd. Its a Big Show in front of our Eyes !
Another point is that in a live performance you can listen only tracks from your favorite group , which personaly i like it better than listening unknown unreleased tracks from a dj.
IMHO, A good Live experience is much better than a good dj set. (few exceptions in certain djs)
from my experiences examples..whats better?
The Massive Hallucinogen Live in Brixton Academy(2001) or the extremely good Dj Set by Synchro ?
The
The amazing Hux Flux Live in Solaluna 2001 or the best ( imo) dj set in this festival from Frank E.
The Full Energy GMS Live which blow away the crowd in Samothraki 2002 or the amazing (imo) Tristan Dj Set ?
i choose Live Perfomances !
But also i agree that certain live performances are not good , and can be boring as well especially if you are not into the music that the artists played.
From my experience the worst performances are from people that just use a laptop , play music without any mix or tweaking , dont move at all . the end . People Must Avoid this Kind of Performances! but i dont know how.. For example the previous year in Just dance festival Total eclipse played amazing music with synths, drumsynths, computer.. now from friends i learned that in their last appearance in greece in a club they played awful, no extra instruments , technical problems...
so how do you know that is going to be good live ? you dont , you take the risk and go and have fun !

By the way since we Trance Alliance booked twice Total Eclipse for a live perfomance in Athens on December and before a couple of weeks i am in the position to tell you that it wasnt the organisers fault that the group played both times with many problems.On New Years Eve the groups laptop was destroyed during their flight to Athens and it was not possible to find a Mac on the last moment,before two weeks the laptop was here but it had some cpu problems and for the first 15 minutes the tracks were not played correctly,after ofcourse everything was fine and people enjoyed it a lot.I hope next time no problems with that damned Mac laptop LOL

guys, it happens every day here in serbia... older guys with a lot of money make parties and they have in their mind that are djs and they are residents forso much artists and they are bad represent of us... very bad |

I believe that, if u go to an event to listen to music and your target has been accomplished, there is no need to make a whole scene about it...
The ones that have to reconsider this fact, are the promoters who are paying these guys to do that "job" and they kinda tricking them...
But yes kiou, u have a point there... I can feel you... If you find out such a thing u feel disapointed... Its sad |

maybe these kids were put from the organizers in purpose.. maybe they didn't want to pay extra money for a proper dj, they asked them to play (something that they would be thrilled for) and told them to play some mixed cds...
which means that i agree that is the organizers fault but maybe not of these unexperienced young djs
in search for an answer... |

Or the kids that played over there are just good friends with the organizers! Maybe even the organizers themselves set the condition in order to give this "chance" to their buddies!
U can guess how its going Kosmos!
U now" I am making a party, I am paying for the guests-someone else booked them for me ofcourse since I dont have the links-and I want my "djs" friends to play in My party!!
Same thing but with a slight difference from your guess!

Kiou, few things...
First, no need to be so dramatic, it was 3 ppl laughing at 2 other ppl. That's all- you should have smiled as well. And second, if it bothered you, why didn't you go to these guys, who are probably trying to fulfill a dream to DJ in a party, and give them some constructive feedback?

Because us Greeks do not know what constructive feedback is. We do not want to help each other and with every slight oppurtunitty we love to bury anyone and overdramatise anything.

I do not try support those "djs" who are the reason of this thread imo the should be ashamed of themselves and they should only be allowed to play the smurfs (strumfakia) at kindergarten parties.
But i think you overdramatise this case especially by giving the title "why pps project and atomic pulse laugh with us"

...with "us" i meant the Greek scene. this was a big intenational party with artists from Germany, Israel, Uk and Greece and i felt realy sad when i saw "us" getting rediculous from the warm up set. if i overreact or not, i don't know...just wanted to say about how i felt that night.
Shahar, i don't believe that you would laugh if this would happend in a party in Israel (wich you had payed 35euros to get in).
..and to finish this here, IMO constructive feedback you give to someone who try's not to someone who don't!!!

I will perhaps be offTopic... but I hardly believe that Trance Alliance's Help (which seems to be a well established structure in your country) is remarquable. Very nice from them to try to spread their Xperience around. Really.
About playing Mixed-Cds at parties & Fake live acts..... well no comment. If these guys don't like what they do, then why are they doing it ?
I mean, if U don't feel like playing at a party... well just decline the booking proposal... and everybody forgets about it !
These 2 deejays that are mentionned didn't took the chance to do their best (Hey Atomic Pulse & PPS were watching them !), and it is very sad. Especially for themselves.
