Detox baba, you're accenting my point which is, the only asset you must have to be good and respected producer is talent. The skills and the equipment will come along with hard work.
If you don't have the talent all you have left is mastering the sacred kick+bass combination and saturating the already over saturated full-on market.
And don't get me started on Hardware VS Software discussion.
Technically speaking the modern hardware equipment doesn't differ much from it's software counterpart.

btw, traveller.. to answer honestly about your main thread question...

I think full on is just more obvious in this sense, that there are so many copy paste artists... and 99% of the times, full on sucks, imho... (is that what you dared someone to say?)

but if by copy-paste artists you mean artists that follow a formula, well, I guess this exists in all genres, doesnt it?

Now I just thought: Just by doing music to fit in a more or less specific genre (trance), you must follow a specific formula which will limit you, right? Indeed there are artists that can, inside those limits, freak out and do different things, but maybe it just sounds different to you, but actually the artist just copied some other track from someone and played it in reverse

Another thing that I have noticed with some of the Full on stuff is an interesting correlation to the Hard Dance sound. UK hard house, Nrg, New Skool Acid Techno... Even new school breakz to an extent, and the one thing that really stands out is it's formatting. How the track is structured... These other genres have found ways to influence psychedelic trance producers and dj's especially. I do like some of the influences that these other genres have provided, some of them I can do without. I have always lusted for the more intense side of music while it still is danceable. Is there anything wrong with this? I love dancing, but I also love thinking while dancing too, geting lost in my own head. Is this wrong? I may not like the fluff, but I do have a respect for it and it's time and place on the dancefloor. Yes there are many cookie cutter artists out there, and there were even clone acts back in the day too... Remember Space Cat??? His first album had some major Hallucinogen influences on it....

Perhaps the dancefloor is just more forgiving than many of the purists that are here. Untill I became a dj, I danced to all types of music. As soon as I had to specify what I played and listened to, I became less tolerant of virtually everything besides what I play. As a human being, I became closed minded to concepts that weren't my status quo... Why??? Because I felt my genre of music was special and better than any other due to the idea that there was a "spiritual" connection. It has taken me quite a while to sit down and understand why it is that way.... Perhaps we as a community should really take a step back and be appreciative that people have the time and inclination to produce these ideas, whether they are completely new ones or a tribute to an already established one, instead of virtually taking a dump on everyone that isn't your favorite.
One of the things that really attracted me to the music and the people was the general feeling of acceptance no matter who and what you were. Was this all a fascade? What happened to it? Could it be psytrance itself that needs an ego check?

I have been told that psytrance is a way of life. I personally believe that psytrance can be one of those guides on your personal path to life. I try to go through life with multiple guides functioning as a checks and balances system.... I expect to get flamed for this one, but can we all pull our heads out of our collective asses and just appreciate the fact that this music and community is built by people that wanted it to happen? Why complain about those who don't make what you consider is the greatest music and dis people that happen to like it?           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
