Why is House music is getting so damn poppular in India?

@ Forest Dreams....guess house is more popular coz its commercial n drunkards enjoy it...they cant take high BPM when sloshed n moreover they party to socialize and not for the luv for music...they prefer cheesy n fluffy sounds n house is a pretty good doze for em...same applies to hip hop as well.....also house music is growin coz of the money game!!! we psyheads just luv music rather than making money!!! also its the state of mind of house luvers, psychedelica doesnt make em any sense....have a killer psy 2008 ahead...booom boom!!!

house is easy listening and simple to dance and groove to. not too heavy on the senses ... one does not need to be out of his skull to enjoy it or understand it, even for the first time. people go to clubs to have a good time, drink and forget their worries, dance for a few hours and go home ... not everybody is looking for a spiritual experience and awakening ... not everybody is at the same junction in life as you and me ... there are very few people on the same path as us. change is the only constant ... i am glad there are more ppl moving towards house these days ... cause their next few steps maybe towards trance and psy ... who knows ??? i am all for the support of EDM movement ... i remember a few yrs back no one knew the difference between any of the EDM genres ... now they like house already ... i take this as a positive step  ... but then thats me Love n Light

House has been around much longer than psytrance. Plus understand that psytrance is an underground scene, a very underground scene. A lot of the house you hear in clubs is some of the cheezy nonsense. Just like in psytrance there is cheezy nonsense, same with
house. And just like in psytrance there is more undergroud creative styles, same with house. So dont judge house music on the bullshit you hear in the clubs. Think about it, when youre in a club you can expect to hear more cheezy styles no matter what the genre. I go to psytrance club nites in clubs over here in the US and most of the time its cheezypsy being played.
Im kind of sick of hearing people put down house music. You guys need to dig deeper to really judge house.
But anyways the main point is psy belongs in underground events and should stay there. And House is good for a club atmosphere. And since clubbing is getting so popular in india so is House. Simple answer to your question. Its good, its introducing people to electronic music. And its much much better than hip hop. |

totally agree with ohmshantiohm ...
i have heard some very trippy electro, minimal tech, psytech ... these styles are still relatively underground amongst the house movement genres ... i enjoy listening and grooving to these styles of edm ... do not limit myself

Ahhh yes i agree with ohmshantiohm...
On one occasion of walking around the streets of London drunk we happened to land up somehow at a night club that seemed "dicey" from the outside, but the House tunes the DJ was cranking out inside was something that put my senses on high alert  And that was no cheesy crap.
I am personally not a very big fan of house but sometimes when i land up in certain places after a round or two of  maybe i will enjoy it It doesn't usually excite me in anyway since i don't really consider it as intelligent music, but maybe i just haven't heard enough since i restrict my listening to only the nightpsy genre

ps - If anyone has noticed the words " Strictly House music and no Hip Hop" has become a marketing tool in fact these days! I have seen those words pretty often in night club promotions and advertisements in Bangalore newspapers on multiple occassions |

Also remember that psytrance has been through a relative lull. During this period, people paid attention to the other genres of music that were being introduced to our country. House was one of them, close-ish enough to psy, that caught music-lovers' attention. Since there were no stigmas attached to house (and other sub genres/similar music forms), I suppose it was easily sold to the psychedelically-inclined mind and ta-da!

Dude please stop parading your ignorance, you look utterly moronic. You have to grow up and accept the fact that Psytrance isn't the dogma to life and success and 'coolness.' A lot of people including myself love getting sloshed on alcohol just as much as we enjoy doing other things and i can promise you that even though i love drinking i love this music a lot more than you do It is when psyheads with opinions like yours mingle with non-psyheads which makes them believe that this music and the people attached to it are a big load of crap. Not everyone wants to get their brains fucked and fried. Its funny that your supposed to be a 'dj' and 'party organizer' and yet your still after the whole BPM craze. BPMs mean nothing, get over it. You can have 100 BPM psychedelic music without it being psytrance. You obviously haven't heard good non-cheesy house, so don't use that as a reason to make a blanket statement and say that all house is cheesy. You obviously haven't come across the term 'acid house' that runs at lower BPM's in comparison to psytrance. Think before you speak even if its your own opinion. No offense

also dont forget goa trance was influenced by acid house and techno. Listen to use of the roland tb 303 synthesizer in Goa Trance. You can argue that the acid sound was created by early acid house and techno and then we arrived at goa trance which eventually led us to psytrance. so yah no reason for any psyheads to think of house as a lesser form of music. |

I get what you are trying to say, but i have been one of those drunks too but its too general to just put it all on people ho drink like such and such. and yeah.. maybe EDM is easier music, no psychedelic noises, no crazy dark samples, just simple fluff that most people can listen and feel good about without trying to understand or go deeper within themselves. maybe THAT is one of the major reasons its happening all over the place now.

i dint know there were such influences, thanks.
Maybe the whole club culture is a little too easy for some of us to accept. I mean House imo is popular because its being promoted so much more. I receive emails, sms, and watch print ads on events happening through the month. I think its all about the underground bit that someone spoke about here. Its commercial music.

of late iv really been digging some of the minimal and electro .. it`s damn good music and more often than not the production is at a much higher level than psytrance .. go check it out , good music is good music ..
