Namaha stated very eloquently why Shiva is not the "Destroyer" in a "Dark" sense. Tantrumm stated why Kali is only Dark in colour and physical aspect, I explained patiently what the symbolism of her physical aspect actually means. You chose to ignore it, write a whole essay, threw around a couple of misquoted Mantras and then you have the audacity to call something that means alot to many of us here...BORING.

The reason this HIndu imagery was adopted by the whole Goa scene is because in HInduism Shiva was considered a God who preffered to keep to himself. A yogi who did not want to be disturbed by petty issues (yes even Gods apparently fought amongst themselves or had grievences with other beings). He was considered a God on the outskirts (this was until he was incorporated into the trinity and rose to his Supreme status). He is a GOD who sat in the mountains, away from all the "crap", in Yoga, with ghosts and goblins as his peers (other Gods did not usually assocaite with such beings) but Shiva did not discriminate. He is considered the wild God. He smoked hemp and did not want to be disturbed. Also Shiva is the Lord of dance as Natarja. Thus the Goa scene adopted the imagery as it fit their concept of being a movement on the outskirts of society, wild and rebelious. Not involved, not conforming to the requirements of society as a whole. It also helped that Shiva is assocaited with Hemp, the Goa scene found solace in this. But the Goa scene, and it's in evitable growth and commercialization is what caused Indian laws to have to ban marijuana in the 1970s. Prior to which it was legal for Indians to consume the substance as it is so evident in the Hindu religion.

Moki, for the past couple of weeks I've been reading your posts here on isratrance and I think you really need to calm down. You don't really look like you have any fixed point of view, your opinions and arguements keep changing. All I can say is that many westerners come to India and mold together their own idea of our culture/religion. You can believe whatever you want really, but when you post things like that essay on this forum you better be prepared for the criticism that comes with it. Especially when you use religion. Now you say youre not interested in religion anymore, youre an anarchist, we should have a religious forum, blah blah.

I haven't read the essays, but from this thread I have to say that even though mokis posts may not be politically correct there is something fresh, original and sincere about much of what he says.
And there are so many people telling him where his facts are wrong. Its like dude no, you have it wrong I am from Mexico and my father was a Maya elder Chankin from the Guatemala Highlands and has red on his face, so don't tell me about 2012 cuz I know and its not the end of the world but a mere counsciousness shift. As I said, religion is a very personal thing Moki and it should not be exploited for any reason because even those who have a small faith in it to those who believe whole heartedly in it will be offended.
And it ain't a great idea for a journalist in a scene that is primarily based around the country of that religion to offend them.
