thix a rather subject topic, of course it is not so easy 2 analyse, being so superficial...but my question is:

why do u listen 2 psy?what are your motivations, (is the correct question)?

u are in here cause u are from the wave of goa trance?and of course the motivations u had back then, are no longer aplied in todays parties?

u are in here cause u are a party promoter, and want 2 make money?

u are in here, cause u like 2 produce/spin music, and want 2 give 2 other peoples nice music and "create" nice feelings on people?

u are in here, and u think that the music u sell must b shapped 2 todays sonority, cause that will help u make more money and a livin out of thix?

u are in here cause u are a party organizer, but u donīt care 4 money, but the so called spirit (by the way, do u know what does it mean?spirit? me? i have kinda a blurred vision about it...)?

u are in here cause all your friends come 2 parties and u donīt want 2 stay @ home?

u are in here cause, u really love thix music?

or u have your own vision of thix scene and u think that your vision is the correct one?

u are in here cause it is fashion music nowadays?

u are in here, and so you think that the "style" u listen is the best?no matter if u speak of plurish, and fair world, and u say that (nice words and feelings and make love not war, help the others...etc...) even with your ideas of a "supreme" sound (elitist thought)...etc...?
and in the category above, are u blind enough, so u can think that the style u listen, deserve being defended no matter what the cost is?
or u listen 2 a certain style, and u respect the other styles? i mean not starting threads about wich one is better, or all "subgenres", must face a division? and letīs us ban all the ignorants that listen 2 anything diferent that what u listen?

or u are in here cause u are against todays society and in here there are crazy people, and u seemed 2 fit in?

or are u in here cause u just fell of?

please, b honest, and share a ideia that u are all sons of your words...and somebody is watching u
see ya.

mine?1st the love 4 the music and all itīs envolvings...2nd well 2 many bitching about things that really donīt deserve my effort, in order 2 improve them, but alawys, somebody must arrive and say that is not very friendly and arenīt helping the people envolved!
well i see thix way, if we are payng 4 something, kinda like parties, u must demand conditions.if u make money u must give conditions.
it is like buying something from a shop...u demand for quality.
and maybe i am in a bad mood, and wanted some thoughts of u...cause i am seing 2 much people in here talkin about one thing, and later, claiming the oposite idea...go with the flow they say....          ...

Psy Trance is my asylum. Without it i'd be wearing a jacket and chasing flies on the wall.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

I`m here because trance music is most interesting trend in modern music.
I hope that trance will go far and far away from club dancing music and got more influencies from industrial and EBM.           OVT oF LIGHT CoMETH DARKNESS

What attracted me to the psychedelic trance scene was the general feeling of acceptance that I received when I went to an event. I had been involved in many other genres of electronic music and really sensed the "I'm too cool to hang out with you because you aren't this headlining act or you're not part of my clique" Shortly after going to many events I began to really enjoy the music and the sonic diversity without resorting to cheesy cliches that drove me away from many other genres. I do try and listen to other genres, but psy calls me back every time...

I still remember the entire conversion that I had made. When I first started wanting to play dance music, my roomate was a progressive(melodic) trance dj and let me have access to his records. I quickly grew bored with the genre and went seeking a new form of music. My roomate had played some goa for me and I really wasn't too into it. Coming from having a strong dislike for the overly melodic trance that I was previously exposed to, I didn't really dig Goa at all. I discovered Drum & Bass and went on to play Jump-up Jungle (which IMO is one of the most commercial forms of jungle that was made)

Later on that year, I was invited to go to Southern California to attend an all psytrance outdoor. I have always loved outdoor gatherings and as such made it a point to go. After an excessive amount of Dr. "L" and being exposed to the highly psychedelic music, I honestly felt at home with the music and it kept me interested in the music as a whole. It was the first time I was interested in how the music was created, primarily due to seeing a Southern California live act. (Vortechs, now defunct) I still remember the name of the first song that I went gaga over during that party, coincidentally it's the one of the only two songs I remembered after that party... Logic Bomb's The Pawn (RMX) and the other song I remember was Mumbo Jumbo's Wierd, Sick, Twisted (mainly because of the Homer Simpson sample)

I became interested in the for lack of a better term "darker" end of the spectrum because I did enjoy the newly emerging full-on substyle that was gaining popularity, due to its dancibility, but because the melodies that were used reminded me of the melodic trance that I had ceased playing a few years prior, I couldn't quite fully get into it. I was always into Xenomorph and loved Absolum's style and was really seeking a style that was almost a fusion between the two sounds.... I made a post on a local psy list and was instructed to check out Parvati Records.... I bought Psychedelically Yours and was hooked on the likes of Digital Talk and Psycho Micro (before they became Psychotic Micro) Even then I didn't quite fully understand the music that was on most of the cd, but for me it was definitely was a step in the right direction. I began collecting more of the darker sounding stuff and eventually progressed to the Russian sound through Parasense and Acidance records... Even then I hadn't quite found exactly what I wanted... I had found a few artists that were doing what I liked, (funny enough, Skazi was one of the artists that I had gravitated to) but I had a pretty strict idea of what I really wanted and wasn't finding as much stuff as I had liked.... Which helped lead me to write my own music.

What enticed me to write music was feeling like the genre as a whole had plenty of room for people to provide their ideas and you didn't have to be some big shot dj that travels the world to be able to write music and play it for people. I am not in it for fame or notoriety, but simply to tell my story and have people hear it. I had thought that you needed multiple thousands of dollars of equipment to make music, let alone anything good. It wasn't untill hanging out with the likes of Ocelot and Quasar and Aeon and Random that I was exposed to the possibilty of computer music.... And for that I will eternally be grateful. I used to write prose and poetry a lot years ago and for a while I had lost the ability to write anything I was happy with, and as such stopped writing alltogether. It wasn't till I discovered writing trance that I found that I could write what was on my mind without having to worry about words detracting from the emotions that I wanted to convey....

Do I feel the style or genre I love is the "best"? I can't speak for anyone else. I can only speak for myself and for me, this music has been my passion for 4 years now and has helped me through many difficult times. Nothing gets my brain and soul working better and in unison like the stuff I am into. And for me, at the end of the day, you can only attempt to please yourself and make your environment comfortable...

In the town I live in (Marina, CA 2 hrs south of San Francisco) there are less than a handful of people that will go to a psy gathering outside of the area. But I have a bunch of friends that go to the annual outdoor events my closest compatriots and I have been throwing since 2000. I meet people that I went to high school with, people that have never been to any type of electronic music event, and people who got turned off by massives. These parties don't make money, in fact the past few gatherings we've thrown in my area have come strictly out of our pockets with us barely even asking for donations to make sure we had lunch money the next week till payday. Why do you ask?.... The sheer knowledge that one action causes so many positive reactions from those who are just looking for something beyond the mundane...
