i been listening to pelin pala demon tea album again lately and godamm its absolutely incedible. I cant imagine hearing music anywhere else of this complexity...the best and most creative electronic music ive ever heard, im defeintly gonna check out Haltya...is it along the same lines?

In a word - no. It's "straighter" i.e. more groove / dancefloor oriented. I would say the 1st Haltya album is more along the lines of the Pelinpala album on Demon Tea than the most recent, which is more funk flavoured & verges on their Highpersonic Whomen style in spots. Highpersonic Whomen is their trance project, hence the alter-egos

RaverGirl.. are you bringing Tommi to Israel?           new Hadal Drop album on the way

if you don't have the last one get in touch

dang it Ravergirl, if i can't get to finland from oregon, what makes you think i'll be able to make it to israel????

jk well i'll be there in spirit at least (for whatever you have planned -hehehe)

'dance like a tree' was also my favorite from tommi's demon tea album...

the new (and old) Haltya is brilliant !!

i like WMCF (Feng Shui Arrangement) from the old (track 10??) and Hero from the new.

best of luck in organizing RG! maybe someday i'll manage to get them to oregon too

Haltya in Israel is an historic event! They should make a new holiday on that day

Dance Like A Tree was the opening track by Pelinpala on a very smashing compilation way back in early 2000 called Electric Kool Aid.....Check it out, even the Rastaliens - Sativasaurus track is toooooo good!

Just caught Tommi and Jonas (replacing Jyrgen Sachau in the live gig) in the Konemetsa festival, and as usual their gig is pure fun - groovy, even 'kinky' funkadelic rhythms spices up with jazzy lines and the traditional Haltya scratchy background samples. It was, as always - a pleasure.

Israel, watch out for these 2, if there is some who can bridge between the opposite concepts of Full-on and Suomisoundi it is definately Haltya.

Fore more PelinPala ("gamepiece" in Finnish), check out also "Roboman" on "Fusion vs Confusion" (a masterpiece of release, IMO), and also "Sizzilian Sizzle Stick" on Thirteen's first compilation (and not so good, I admit) "Recreational Drugs", and a 12" on Exogenic with "Tauno" (and OutoLintu - johan Pomppas on the B side, which was later released on my compilation "Digital Drops (USTA)).

good hunting,

I'm jealous!!!

To be honest though, I really don't see these guys mixing "full on" & "suomi" sounds. Mixing trance & funk yes, but there's no full power vibe to their music.

Oh & BTW, that Electric Kool-Aid comp was a cracker           new Hadal Drop album on the way

The point wasn't mixing the 2 generes, but the fact that their music can be accepted and certainly enjoyed by followers of the more 'structured' and 'straight' form of trance music (and the Israeli crowd tends to be that way, with some exeptions...).

A small sidetrack - my biggest suprise in this festival was actualy Kiwa, since I really tried to avoid any 'psy-trance' there, yet these lads performed a very interesting psygressive (psy-progressive) set, something that I didn't expect from them.
Candi, the next ones are them, believe me!

CandYYYYYYYYYYYYY with a Y

I have the last Kiwa album and I found it quite boring. Do you mean to tell me their lives / sets are interesting?

About Haltya, there has been a small delay, but that's it... everything is closed! They are coming in 2 weeks
