No matter what everyone says-
Astrix DID create a certain genre, and many people DID and STILL ARE copying it.

There was Fullon before him, there were morning power tunes before him,but he took certain elements from GMS for example and other groups as well, and created a Track Structure that many copycats are following to this day.

That structure was a Big break in the middle of the track - some sample about liquid, space or whatever-and then comes in the big melody, usually filtered - followed by everything that comes back once the kick returns(it was firstly exposed to the world in his monster hit SCIENTIFIC REALITY-and the rest is history).
Its not that this structure was not there before astrix,we even did a break like this already in 1998 in tracks like "bionic Bong",but he developed it and made it into an "official" formula which is so common for years now in fullon, and many artists, including hommega artists(such as Delirious, which one of them is your brother, eliran maimone,if im not mistaken)are following,or at least followd in the begining of their career.

And there was a time when the clone attack was so big - it was ridiculous. They were all Astrix clones,no doubt there!!!Take a kick,a VB bassilne, some drumloops, find a cheesy sample and make a melodic break.very simple and effective...

Nowdays the Clone wars are behind us as it seems, and people start to realize they shouldnt buy clone music anymore.or do they?

Eliran as one that looks at the full on scene from the side for a while now, I can tell u without any doubt that:

01. Astrix is a 'godfather' of the full on trance as we know it today. It started with his debut track on Israeliens 3 ( with Atomic Pulse I think ) and as Yoni stated he defined the style with his 'Eye to Eye' album and specifically with the Scientific Reality track.

02. Since that happened it is a fact that many ( especially Israeli ) artists tried to copy that formula ( including Delirious btw in my opinion ofcourse ) but as far as I am concerned no one came close to the man that invented it.

03. Lately ppl began to understand that being copycat doesnt help much, so those with real talent try to find new paths and there is interesting stuff again out there in the full on land ( Only today I heard some track from band called Silent Hill, totally interesting and innovating )

I believe that every one has to get what he entitled 2 - Astrix definitely defined and re-defined the full on trance around the globe, and if u want another proof for that, go and see his booking list and see the other 'clone' bands booking list - the difference is quite big I would say           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

The funny thing I noticed is that the style that he does especially the big break as Psysex pointed out, was very common in epic melodic trance, Binary Finary, Paul Van Dyk, ATB, BT, etc... The structure of those tracks are almost identical to many ofo the "full on" that is released to date. It's the uniform structure that really made people take notice combined with excellent production quality.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

I have to agree with Mr. Hanky and Yuli. Astrix DID it, and that´s it.

After the "Optical Vibes" track and maybe Kali, with singular sounds, Astrix found his formula. Melodic "vb" bassline, filtered melody similar to the bassline, big break with climax sequence, clear and crystal sounds. And the result @ dancefloor... I think u all know it...

No doubt a lot of artists start using this formula, and as Yuli said maybe today new artists are trying to reach more innovative sounds. Just evolution.

Getting inspiration from Avi and his music is really ok for me. Maybe some artists needs more time to find their own style before releasing so much "dancefloors killers", that has only the break and the melody.

after some research into full on me and my associate in the research mr Guy Shanti have concluded that Full On trance has 2 patterns being folowed by most full on artists in the years 01-03. those are Astrix and Skazi. most music that was produced back then could be connected (structuraly/rythmically and soundwise) either to Mr. Avi Shmailov (with contributions by Ari Linker and Tamir Ozana) or to Mr. Asher Swissa (with contributions by Assaf Bivas and some of the 3Dvision gang).

if you listen to 96% of the full on you can defenitley say it's an Astrix or a Skazi.

Eliran, can you tell us who in your oppinion made that sound???          Kinetic Honda GmbH, Worldwide Supliers of Quality noise.

yes their first album without melodies but with organic and trippy sounds was nice!By the way I think that Astrix is the god father of Israeli full on.For sure nowdays he needs some inspiration to create something new to evolve his sound.           www.myspace.com/tasos_notrea
