and seeing a Manasseh tune in there was also nice as it took me back in days when i was a dub activist with my dreadlocks!

Hehehe, yeah you turned the knife in the wound with your post in the Soul Vibration review !

And indeed, I liked sooo much Manasseh's album @Echo Beach I was like "aaaaaah" when I saw it after having completed my order hehe.

Please let me take the liberty of suggesting as "innovators" a few names more into the abstract hiphop/downtempo style :

Wax Tailor
album Tales of the Forgotten Melodies (UCMG records)
www.waxtailor.com

9th Cloud
album A Monkey in a Yellow Hat (Baleine rec. | Montera Music)
www.monteramusic.com/9thcloud

Bikini Rumble
album Almost Hydrofoiling (Key-On-A | Montera Music)
http://www.bikinirumble.com/

Imho really interesting stuff, just don't expect "floating ambient stuff" but if you're up to such vibes I'm sure you could enjoy a lot.

from what i heard in the last 2 years, bluetech is the man when it comes to delicious ear candy synth melodies.
and ott, as usual, can always go further in his very own ground.

Well Phutureprimitive definately strikes me as being an 'innovator' in these re-cycled times, I really feel like he has pushed the boundaries of where this music can go, especially with his last release for Native State (Oleander rmx). Every time I listen to his 'Sub Concious' album I am transfixed, you can't help but be fascinated by these sounds - exceptionally well crafted, hours of skilled musicianship ooze through the speakers. Bring on the next album.

Nagaul Sound Experiment is an interesting project, especially after hearing the new tune on Soul Vibration, and yes, Slackbaba too. And when Gaudi and Tripswitch get together... wow, probably my fave tune recently. Definately innovating the 'psy' sound, but what's the problem with that??!! Nothing too cheesy at all if you ask me!

Androcell seems to be developing too, sound clips sound infintely further down the line than the first album, innovating in the right direction I think.

And yes, with Puff Dragon I would agree, it seems like if you take one Welshman and stick him in Japan all sorts of mad things can happen. I wonder if anyone will try and copy that looping sound from Chinese radio?

basically, looking at this thread, we are reminded that innovation is everywhere out there, it is just a matter of looking           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.
