I don't know why ! Experimenting different sounds and ways, along with commercial reasons for some ppl.
Basically it depends on the artist and profoundly one's personal interests and views.
Progressive sounds are being "digested" much easier than full on psy trance music. One could easily refer to it as music for the masses, concidering that progressive house for instance is globally "acceptable" whilst trance music -even prog psy trance- is still the forbidden fruit and trance scene the "misunderstood" one.
I'm one of those who believes in promotion of good music , making trance music , music for all! Not music for a few ppl! What is good, is made for communicating ideas and feelings with others, looking at it more than craftwork (and it is craftwork first of all) but as profession that one gets by with! To think otherwise for me is egoistic if not anything else!
Of course quality is priority one and shouldn't mix in with quantity!
Unfortunately trance spirit can't be promoted the same way!
I hope my kids (if I ever have any) can enjoy trance music without being tolerated as aliens(the best way look a trancer at - if not as a drug addicf for sure)!
By the way I believe that trance dj's and music makers moreover can do better than any other kind of dj in music industry whatever the genre.
That's if one is up and apt to it!

Hi there! progressive trance...hmmm. How can somebody define this, whilst this kind of music exists for 15 years or maybe even more? I think that artists coming from the psytrance scene want to experiment with something different. Monroe, atmos, reefer decree,son kite, vibrasphere, haldolium, bitmonx, etc etc...all these artists are coming from the psy way of trance. No,it is not for commercial reasons. Haldolium for example left back their psy trance reputation and got in to other paths just to express themselves. They have lost a lot of money but they've followed their hearts. So i think that this new wave of progressive style needs time for global acceptance. My opinion though is that the psy trance scene lost some great artists (i still miss haldolium diabolica,monro killer sets 3-4 years ago, bitmonx happy psy tunes, and more...) I vote for psy trance anyways. Byeee! |

The world doesn't stop spinning...
Day after day new sounds come up..
Artists who come from psy-scene like antix or tegma or all these names euphoria said allways know to produce quality music with psychedelia within it even if they turn to progress!
I support this psy-progressive wave which grow up after 2000.It's good for our scene is good for us.It makes a lot of people listen to psy tunes!It makes new artists find new ways to express themselves!
also other artist from techno or other scenes
work together with open-mind
trance artists and produce new kinds of music
after all psy-trance allways keep on and this progressive wave is a plus for the scene!
p.s.:and like COSMA said
KEEP YOUR MIND,JUST KEEP YOUR MIND,KEEP YOUR MIND ...OPEN!!!!

advancing to the future!!!

The main reason to this psy to proggy change according to artists like Anti from Spiral Trax,Ian Ion from Koxbox/Saikopod and James Monro from discussions i had with them is that they are fed up with all this low quality psychedelic music that gets released in our days.There is not much good music getting released according to them (i aggree with them on this part by the way),the money also is not so good in psychedelic music like it is in progressive trance lets say (we can easily understand that Global Underground and Bedrock pay much more money for a tune than TIP World lets say) and finnally they just got bored sticking with the same style of music all these years.I mean which one of us will still listen to psychedelic trance lets say in ten years from now?I bet not more than 1 out of 3.
So to sum it up Bad Quality Psy Music,Personal Advance and Change Of Taste and finnally Money made all this people to change their directions in the music industry.
As simple as that

you are right mike but there is a difference betweenprogressive housetrance and progress-psy -trance!james monro and anti now like to play more progress house stuff.and some othersfor example like cosmic tone-beat bizzare and exanimo are more trance!proggy but with alot influencies of psychedelia!

Yeah good music is good music anyway,i aggree with that XrTC.
Well Anti from Spiral Trax calls the music that he plays Progressive House or even Disco House so thats the style you people are talking about i guess.
Well all its fine about me as long as the selections and the mixing are both ok and with DJ's like Anti and James i think that both of these things are 100% guaranteed!

first of all respect to anti and monro because they are from first dj in psy music...yes detox i agree about anti and james monro about style music, they want to do something different!!!They are 14 years ravers they have made the tour of world many times for psy scenes,now they want something else,more money more glory for other kind of people,i believe that...

well guys, the music never stopped its own evolution. Some years ago, we were worried about the turn of psy from melodic lines, to the monotonous bassline patterns and the continuous fattening of the bassdrum. No more astral projection or MFG, or KoxBox we said...Maybe its just about time to return to melodies, and more traditional music concepts, and blend them with what we experienced from this era... A smart Record title was Spiral Trax's The end Of an Era...

unfortunately most of the european producers they change their music style maybe for the money or becayse they are tired and they want to start to write more mainstream sounds.
