Second the Sun Control Species.
But also...
Scorb - Ipso Fvcto (can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet)
VA - Snap Crackle Drop
VA - Vibraspirit 23:23
VA - Vaporize 2 (way back at the beginning of 2007)
Kuba - Through a Lense
Etic - Zooming Out
Evan Marc - Emotional Ecology
VA - Cloud Catcher
The Braincell CD was also good, as was Kilowatts' new album.
I wish I could put Bufo's 2006 release on here, because I'm still listening to it like crazy.
Disappointments:
Cujorius One - Art of Mindfucking (good musical ideas, but I thought the production quality was horrible)
Still haven't made it through the Decoy album, despite the great first track...keep getting bored.
Gaudium - So Called Life and Day.Din - Speakers Corner Both had some great tracks, but then the rest was filler.

I thought the production was superb, way above the underline (hehe). Seriously though, it's a very reckless statement about these geniuses of sound. Then again, it's just your opinion.
Peace.

I thought the Cujorius album sounded bass-heavy in my car, not so emphatic on the mids and highs as other psy releases. but on real speakers it sounds great.

Exactly. It sounded to me like someone had taken a pretty good sounding album and thrown a blanket over it...it was just really muddy. |

By that logic, I should be complaining about every CD I listen to on my speakers. |

not really, all releases are mastered differently. a lot of psy has tight compressed bass and more pronounced mids/highs, which is great for listening on home stereo speakers, in the car, etc. a lot of non-psy EDM is mastered 'for the dancefloor' with much heavier bass and less shrill mids/highs and will only sound 'right' if you have a proper sound system or nice studio monitors/headphones with enough bass and volume to play it on. like I said, i also thought the Cujorious album sounded muddled until i played it on "real" speakers - then it started sounding great - very thick and full, not muddled at all.
