X-Dream & Atmos. Before they came along, all you had was Melodic Trance (Astral, MFG, SFX...), and Nitzhonot.

X-Dream were in their late goa phase when Tristan was already doing grooves. Same with ManMadeMan (which deserve credit for the modern progressive music more than anyone else... Atmos included). And even before that, Total Eclipse did a few (well, 2 that I remember from before 1996) very interesting and fairly minimal things (even though they still had the melodies).

Juno Reactor and Prana deserve a lot of credit for bringing the percussion lightyears forward. Quirk for a few classic progressive tracks (Goat Ranch 7 - Nanoteque, early 1998).

X-Dream (and the many successful sideprojects) do deserve a lot of credit for bringing techtrance to where it is today. That I agree with

Quite a few revolutions -

1993 - Juno Reactor - Trancemissions - the official beginning of Goa Trance.. ( there was Goa b4 as well, but for me this was THE beginning )

1995 - Hallucinogen - Twisted ( Dragonfly ) -----> End of virginity and naive melodies, beginning of crazy hallucinations, wild landscapes and infinity of possibilities soundwise, musicwise and trip-o-wise

1997-8 X-Dream - Radio ( Blue Room ) / Metal Spark - Corrosive ( Blue Room ) Blue Room released two albums that changed the Trance world upside down ( imo ).. The first one made it with the ultimately huge sound ( tightness of which not many producers can compete with even 5 years after ), and the definite dark throbbing style which after further simplifications became the TekkTrance of these days ( quite important to emphasize that this album is a TOTAL Psy Trance, but out of this the Tekk evolved ) - PS. Goa trance starts to die from here on..
...The second one I have mentioned - Corrosive... Maybe known less then the monstrous Radio, made not less change, imo, since it was the FIRST whole length album that crossed the Trance scene with other electronic genres as a CONCEPT ( and did it very well + managed to stay psychedelic as hell )

1999-2000 Atmos - HeadCleaner ( Spiral Trax ) was ( and still is ) a landmark in further simplification of trance & further cross over combinations with other genres in electronic music. Here Goa is officially dead.. But on the other side from the Metal Spark dudes.. Metal Spark was combining D&B / Jungle with trance whilst Atmos made the combina with Deep / Progressive House and some Chill out influences into the rather fast ( in comparison to Chill Out offcourse ) minimal Trance music.

Ciao

I would like to add to that question.
What was the first official CD or Vinyl release?

About the aritsts that made the greatest revolution in Trance
I have to vote for Astral Projection, Hallucinogen, X-Dream, Infected, and probably Shiva Chandra           Both teams played hard

Adz: Astral Projection (as SFX), Har-El Pruski (forgot to mention him), Sven Vath (errr, well, not standard goa, but he was one of the founders). 1992 I was in my techno/breakbeat phase (just after I had left metal ). 1993 was my first real move to trance           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

thanks kaz:)

i used to listen to German melodic/acid trance, labels like Harthouse, Eye Q, Noom... so yes some Sven Vath and Resistance D...

and before that, EBM/Industrial dance was my first electronic style of music i got into in 1992. before that i was listening to Metal aswell also some Goth,Punk stuff in the middle.

front 242, front line assembly, skinny puppy...

so you can see the evolution from EBM and early German trance styles in Psychedelic Trance.

hi hagai first of all very good idea for a thread my bro
for me a lot of artists made a big change in the scene :
atmos : headcleaner was revolutional !
X-dream : keep changing and evolving all the times , always were the masters
simon posford : in his style he was and still is a king .
3.turn (Authentik) : the pioneers of tech trance .
big wigs : for a whole new concept , tomek and his friends got me from the first track (pierwszy raz , "this is the first time that im going to sing in polish" hehehe !)
and alot of other artists gave their share in the progress !

every couple of years we hear a CD that influences every other producer in the scene.
I agree with Yuli about Juno, Halucinogen (who influenced infected and I don't think that they made something new, just perfected their-Posfords style) X-Dream and Atmos. I'd like to add to that Ticon's album that seems to have brought everyone even closer to house last summer.           Kinetic Honda GmbH, Worldwide Supliers of Quality noise.

Hmm..
Simon Posford & Raja Ram is the ultimate answer in my humble opinion..

Have to disagree and agree with Dr Boris....

Infected didn't make anything new (agree) but to say that they perfected posford's style is a really big statement. listening to unusual suspects tracks by posford, tell me where there are other artists that can write tracks that good, that touch the emotions like no other. i don't think it is possible.

Posford is THE revolutionary.

Now read very attentively
Simon Posford as Hallucinogen
and
Simon Posford as Shpongle. Nothing more. GMS and Infected didn't do any Revolutions.
Prodigy did and Beatles did. But it's not about trance.
