I was wandering; if we didn't have the magical 60's, and all the psychedelic music, clothes and atmosphere, would there be psytrance? I personnaly think that there would be no psytrance - no Astral Projection, no Muses Rapt, no Simon p, no raja ram. We'd be left with pure techno... god bless the 60's!           MiniMAL cabron...

How the hell can we know where we would be with out the 60's? Where would we be without electricity? There would be no synths or computers or mixers etc..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

this is not a stupid topic!
its a very interesting question which imo you can approach in too ways.
one is to view it as purely rhetorical way of saying pretty much our scene came out of the sixties (viz comments about how we'd be isratechno otherwise )
the other is to actually ask in what ways there is an obvious direct link between sixties counter culture and current trance culture. on this there is a lot to be said and we can probably all contribute - even if we are all too young
but it seems relatively clear that people like antaro, raja ram and goa gill are the 21st century embodiment of the original hippy spirit

unfortunately ofer already got the obvious beatles gag in his album but let it beat nonetheless

where would it be without the 70's?

the late 60's were a major part of music history in terms of both sound and the (counter-) culture that grew around it, but the early 70's were just as experimental imo...

I think this topis is silly too.
Where our whole music generation woul be without classical music?

Come on guys... It's called evolution. Everything in the past is somehow connected to how we live today.           Majority is never right!

guys, to say this topic is silly you either have to believe that the link is so self evident as to be pointless to note or you have to take the stand that history is not worth discussing. the latter seems to me to be a particularly bizzare point of view.

just because evrything in the past is in the past and hence linked to today (not such an obvious point) doesn't mean its not worth trying to unravel the web of relationships between things - otherwise there would not be history departments in universities etc.

since we are part of a worldwide evolving scene i would have thought a lot more people would have been interested in this sort of question (about relationship of today to sixties) that is only a small part (as has been pointed out above) of the history of the global psychedelic counter culture or whatever you want to call it.

anyway, i'll shut up now
peace
