It is normal that ppl complain that music was better five years ago. Noone remembers the shitty releases from 5 or 10 years ago. We only remember the gems, which is not at all surprising. Today, however, in order to decide for yourself what is a gem and what isn't, you must wallow in a sea of shit. In five years from now though, the same will be the case, we will only remember the seminal releases of 2004 and will forget what we are complaining about now only to complain about the music of 2009.

i´m sorry daniel but i don´t believe the kind of music people hear has anything to do with intelligence, besides do you consider yourself more intelligent now than before you started to listen to trance?

Have you read my posts at all ?

Almost 15 years ago I was dancing in a rock and heavy metal club (Roxan). The name of the special evening there was “Death to Techno” - which for us was every kind of music made by computer.

I would have never believed that 5 years after I will become a trance freak. Today I listen almost only to trance and produce parties.

So 5 years from now?

I guess a lot of us will stay in trance, but the youth will probably find another style of music that is supposed to “change the world” and “bring the spiritual revolution”…

Let just hope we have a blast

in 5 years from now i hope not to be a virgin....not to have pimples.....and to control my urine problem....

on subject: i would like to feel more vibe and less show....no stages! just a small mixing table under the tree with the DJ biting on the flash light while flipping the pages in his case.....unnoticeable...
Cheers.           "....or is it???"

i think that we are presently witnessing the beggining of big changes, psychedelic music becoming much more mainstream (which is already happening in a lot of countries), with artists/producers desperately searching for new types of sound, probably morphing trance with all sorts of other electronic (or not) music.

we must notice, though, that this "progress" isn't necessarily bad, it's just different. on a more personal note, i hope that in 5-years time i'll be doing a few dj sets somewhere because we're desperately in need of a few more female artists, i don't feel represented enough

now for a slightly offtopic opinion: i completely agree with daniel, appreciating music has a whole lot more to do with aesthetics than it has to do with actual comprehension. you don't have to be mozart to enjoy the requiem. i believe enjoying something, anything, has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence. btw, daniel, i always use the car metaphore when discussing this with friends

last wish: do not kill psy with prejudice!           waltzing @145bpm

Cheers girl! =) Your post made me want to meet you in person

And yeah, the car example is simple but effective! Its all about what pleasure is for YOU in life.

For instance, last night I was discussing with a friend that didnt apreciate much of the food I like.. neither drinks like wine or beer.

Its exactly the same thing.. He hates cheese and wine or whatever and I love it. Its all about the pleasures in life, in our own point of view.

But about the music, I sincerly think that we should be more open minded. In the last few months/years we've seen whats the main problem: the lack of acceptance to new ideas, and the lack of respect...

Im talking about people who enjoy, for example, dark trance, and that say full-on is totally rubish.

I mean.. Am I so strange in the world? Cause guess what, I can enjoy both styles! Both of them have elements that define them and that can certainly be apreciate it.

But as I said before, its also fault of this separation between genres that we see. We have minimal, progressive, psy, full-on, goa, dark .. And not only in trance.. Also in other genres you see that.

In my opinion this only leeds to group separations and rivalitys, when we should all "dance together". You know what I mean.. Its like the dark trance example.. If a dude likes dark and only dark and finds out you like morning stuff he'll probably say you are a weenie and stuff, cause you dont know the "real trance"...

So, my wish's for the future are mainly all this that i've writen.. basically: more respect for the music, more respect for the people and above all do not close your minds! always leave them open, cause you only stop learning when you die.

It will be the same as now! Just a bit more professional           "there once was a lesbian from Cancun
who took a young man up to her room
where there argued all night as to who had the right
to do what, how much and to whom"

I think we'll be awfully close to the year 2012, so expect the unexpected.           "Love is a way of life"
