Progressive = Minimal = Boring = Not Worth To Listen

i very much like asaf's answer. it sums things up nicely. but i would point out that it only applies to the best progressive and minimal acts out there, such as son kite. i can listen in a hypnotic dancing zone to son kite forever, following the labyrinth-like structure of their arrangements. this is sonic genius--they are not chasing a single point in time, but are rather going after time itself. however, i think a number of acts are emulating the surface of son kite, i.e. stripping away the cluttered zany noises, but not getting the core, i.e. the hypnotic but subtlely ever-shifting patterns. in other words, they start making music that is not something, as opposed to making music that is something. this is when progressive or minimal can get very monotous and boring. i love the more minimal side of things and can't really stand the more busy trance, but i admit that when full-on is bad, it's very bad, but at least it has energy; when minimal or progressive is bad, it just sucks without any redeeming features. |

i like power in da music ! i prefer drum'n'bass on house ! or hard powerful techno , i like in the party to hear power and see ppl flying in the sky! not groovin around , and also at home i like hard power psy to kick the floor with my feets while hearin it and make the old dude that leavin a one floor under me to come and scream at me !!!! its realy stupid to say im more INTELLIGENT than ya becuase i listen to this kind of music and more open mind than ya becuase i hear this and this , acctually ya never asked me which kind of other electronix i like to hear so how can ya realy know? , anyways im happy that some ppl understood me by saying its boring to me , i still didnt said its pure shit and all the ppl that listen to it are dumb brainless ppl!!!!! its like i dont like tometos, so those who likes tometos are disgusting and should die?, NO!!!
i just prefer that the shafe wont put it inside the food !!!!!! like i prefer that the dj wont play it on the party , kapish?
and i'll also say to ya guys that totaly listen to the stuff i cant hear , keep on going in yr own way ! as long as its makes ya happy

Boy, people are getting really uptight here.
I think this forum is about sharing ideas and information, and of course sharing opinions.
But I feel that if I can't express my opinion respectfully and without intentionally offending someone,
than that opinion is not good to share.
I want to learn about people's true opinions about trance,
but at the same time, I hope those opinions can be expressed sensitively.
At the risk of sounding too "Kumbaya," I'll say this:
I've been following this forum because I love music, I love dancing, and I love people.
