dear vortex, i just saw the flyer for your 3day party coming up..
280rand? wtf? i know new years was around that much as well, but seriously, are you gna push the price every party or what?
the lineup, in my eyes (and not just mine), is definately not worth paying that money..
then it's also pretty far to get there, so more costs..
nothing ever changes to justify this price hike. same venue (again, again, again), same decor et al and not even a free tshirt or summin..
thank god there are these smaller parties now with better music..
anyway, pls tell me why i should go?
try sell me your party cos i really don't see any incentives here. are you aiming this mainly at tourists and constantia brats or what's actually going on? do you think as hippie can afford this?

i support the higher price.. keeps the crowd smaller.. and any jocks who want to 'come and check it out' will be deterred by the high cost.
its the price of a concert isnt it? except here you get 3 days of camping and music.
how can your taste concerning the lineup determine their asking price? thats like moaning its R500 to see backstreet boys cos you dont like them.
i know, code a, how bout this: don't go.

Vortex always seems to be pushing the price... Hope they don't create a trend. I think thats what we all fear... having to fork out even for a small party.
I only go to a party if the Acts are good compared to the price... and you can't compare TP's to concerts... total diff ball game.
But if you are a Vortex old timer... the cash won't put you off... that would be only a cut of the whole party expense anyway.

Caligula, the jock crowds can afford it, its aimed at them cos they are good for money as well as coke.
its the diehard "real" psy trancer who cant and who will be lost in the end.
R280 is alot of money for me at this point in my life supporting myself etc etc
it detracts from going at all.
@crysis: he makes this thread because it is something he cares about and finds worrying and wants to speak out on it. |

i dont think its fair to constantly insinuate that the vortex crew WANT more jocks at the parties. artists cost a shitload, especially the flights, nad vortex consistently bring the most international acts. aside from that, the vortex rig is twice the size of any other party in SA. to me its obvious why it costs so much..
bear in mind too that this is a 3 day event (like NYE) and not just 24 hours.. so there is higher cost of generators, hiring venue, security, hiring sound, more artists etc etc. I paid R240 to go to easter vortex in 2004, and now in 2007 its R280.. come on - R40 more in 3 years is fair enough. cut vortex some slack.
also, how is it not like a concert? in my opinion, it should be far more expensive because so much more goes into it.. and its longer.. i personally go to see the acts (much like bands) as well as generally dance/camp and be festive. so it should actually cost more!
there will always be vortex bashers though, so its a losing debate from round one.
