i have listend to todays trance and i think that many artists sound the same "onyx"-"alien project"-"sub6" and many more sound the same.. and older artists... well just listen to "hux flux" two alboms... the older one is much much better then the new one. "orion"-metamorphus is the best albom i have ever heard but the new one... |

for me, what's wrong is I find more and more people bitching about whats wrong with the scene and lementing the loss of the "good ole days".
When people start going on about glory days, I reckon they have just gotten old and set in thier ways.

you folks need ALL to stop beeing small thinkers...
everything is in constant transformation...and you know what???everyone will always bitch about those changes cause they grew up with one image build about a subject.....when that subject transforms a little, evolves....the previously mentioned person doesnt see the same image of it that he was used to, and therefor antagonizes against it...
the new generations that are growing up right new watching this new and evolved (immagine a tree....new branches appear....new sub genres come...) will have the same feeling in a near future, when things transforms more....
just have a drink and join the flow...

In a nutshell... an elitist persona will say "I know what's the best and I'll get everything like it". People are into psytrance because it's "underground"... newsflash people - it's not. Hasn't been for ages. But a few people still think so, and feel better about themselves if they don't hear "inferior" music (such as anything not in his favorite subgenre). They'll buy loads of shit just because they won't admit it's just recycled garbage. Some even convince themselves that all of it is awesome (not just in the first year of romance with a new and exciting style). The truth is, in any genre, without exclusion, there is a one good song/track to ten useless crap ratio.
If someone would for a moment bother and say "actually, I'd rather listen to some King Crimson instead of Son Kite Clone 51356139" once in a while, then maybe quality control in labels would actually happen in more than 2-20 labels a genre. The fact is that the farther up a niche you are, the more you support lack of QA in releases, just to satisfy your own ego.
I admit it. Pink Floyd kick the ass of nearly any other artist out there - despite that I barely listen to psychedelic rock because of the load of unlistenables there and the fact that I find the first listen most enjoyable on nearly any album, but these guys made something truely special. Actually - the top few of every genre out there are usually far better than any average-copycat artist of any other style.
And if you just take 5 artists of every genre that you like best, and notice that there are hundreds of subgenres with something unique to them... well, suddenly listening to yet-another-wannabe-Infected-Mushroom is a waste of time. Why not give some classic rock a spin? Or classical music, or jazz, funk, hip hop, breakbeat, techno, microhouse, whatever a spin instead? Expand your mind a bit, and maybe you'll even like the few who are truely outstanding there.
And fuck it, it's refreshing to diversify occasionally - no matter how singleminded you can be.

Still the same magic going on, but you need to choose the right party--Just look a the flyer, of its goatrance/dark or more poppy full-on..
And if you want psychedlic rock - Forget Pink Floyd, check out Gong and the family....
