What makes you buy a cd?

1. Extras - If the CD contais video clips, or an extra CD with unreleased or an DVD, then I'll definitly buy it...
2. Cover art - A good cover sells... If the cover is good, it's worth to buy it, instead of downloading it...
3. The music - Is og course the most important thing... Even if the cover is perfect and the release contains a free DVD, I don't buy it if the music is bad...
4. The label - I can almost see on the label if the music is good or not... Take USTA for exampel, I KNOW that their releases are good... =)
5. The inlay - I simply LOVE fat inlays where the artist write a lot of stuff, and maybe there's a few pictures there etc... THAT appeals to me...
6. "Goodie hut" - Put a sticker or two with the CD, and don't use the ordinary plastic case as cover, make a cover like Parasense - Avandgard and Sphere - Rotation, I simply love those "paper " covers...  - El Cid sahib |

because the label or artist has history of releasing good music... i'll buy a comp for no other reason than it has 1 new song on it by an artist i respect/enjoy. or i'm suggested or played something i haven't been exposed to yet and like it...

Drope.......you are completly right .....dl from internet in the 2003 it s like somethg we have in our DNA......i m also buying cd by internet ...but what i mean it s important then if u like the artists you pay for the his work.....buying his cd......so u keep label alive!...n label s owners know some about!!! hmmm???
As u Mike, many times i buy cd blidly......and i dont call it a donation.....i call it LOVE FOR MUSIC!!!

I buy CDs that have tracks I REALLY like.
Even if has only one track I really like and that I think fits nicely in my set (and I'm not a professional DJ, I play only for fun and for free).
The problem is: I already bought mostly releases available here. It's difficult to find new good releases for sale here in Brazil...

Often just buy a compilation for a track or two I want, and if I'm lucky the rest can offer something worth listening to. This means, I use a lot of money on records.
I prefer album, because it's more certain what you'll get, if you like the style/sound.
Some artists I search for directly and collect; like Absolum, CPU and Xerox & Illumination.
Use a lot of time listening to samples at Saikosounds as well, to get a perspective of the new releases and what's interesting.

I always download cd's first. If i like the music & it give me some moments of joy, I buy the cd as thats the best way i can think of thanking the artist for those moments that his music has given me.

Personally I want to STOP buying CDs....
Although I have reduced the amount of the CDs that I have purchased lately, I want to give an end! I moslty buy my music via iTunes (I don't listen only trance, so I can find most of the music I am interested).
I find the "psy" trance labels VERY boring today....not in terms of music and production, but in terms of packaging! The CD is a product! And unfortunately there is no concept behind this product (of course there are some exceptions as well).
The graphics used most of the times are crap, there is no "bonus" stuff inside.....etc..
I can understand that "bonus stuff" will increase the actual cost of every single CD, but from the other side, whyshould I buy a CD if I can DL everything via iTunes (or other online music shops) paying less money and be able to transfer the music directly to my iPod ?
I have mentioned this before in other threads.....the label managers should INNOVATE or DIE !
