I perceive psychedelia in music as something that reflects a specific situation or a feeling. The situation or the feeling doesn't necessarily need to be something that I've experienced before, but something that I can perceive myself by listening to the track.
I can't really say any technical specifications on psychedelic music, since I think that feelings/emotions/situations can be expressed in so many ways. Something that I quite often consider being non-psychedelic is minimalism, since I don't feel that my mind is in any way minimal - but occasionally certain type of "maximal minimalism" works when trying to express melancholic feelings.
My motto is that good music is always psychedelic, it has something to say, it paints a picture and lets the listener to either perceive that picture or not to perceive it...

I personally stick to the dictionary definition : music perceived as a colorful experience, which helps you expand your consciousness.

And of course, what appears colorful to me may not be colorful to you, that's why nobody can give a definitive list of requirement for a tune to be labelled psychedelic...

psychedelic for me is the repeating and monotonic structure..
this is what makes it psychedelic...

Psychedelic music either...

1. Makes me feel like I've taken drugs.

or

2. Sounds good on psychedelic drugs.

Although I think "psychedelic" has more to do with 'acting upon the mind' or consciousness change.

Spacemen 3 were the perfect psychedelic band. Hypno-monotony at it's best.           "One nation under a groove".

what is the secret
behind psychedelics

well ask the russians
ask the italians
ask the swedish
and if they arent enough ask the japanese

psychedelics is not just hard music
its music that toys with the mind
on substances music takes you on a journey

synths and sounds
listen to Julian aka digital talk
listen to kindzadza s
levi aka kindzadza s music is hard but he uses his sense of humour in each track to keep the senses alive

keeping the senses alive is the art of psychedelics

for eg take neuromotor hyperfrequency basically mechanic sounds
these are hard music real hard
but this can not be called psychedelic this is just hard
fred is not psycho he is a killer musician and an excellent dj

take azax syndrome his music is hard too, but his music is psycho... he has the psycho acid buzz, therefore more and more tripper enjoy this new coming sensation from a country previously known for its ambience in trance

psychedelics is that added antidote that full fills and delivers the punch

So basically compiled data...

Grabbing your awareness and senses on every channel emotional, spiritual, and instinctive together taking you on a journey into the present/unmanifested, which is totally beyond definition and beyond your mind taking you to super conscious state...painting a colourful picture using rocking track structures, unpredicted changes, heady sounds, hidden melodies playing with brain, progression that goes from a to z without large breakdowns and or rebuilds

"-If I can stand on the dancefloor with my hands in front of me, palms downwards, and not move but for my fingers flutttering but still be fulfiled by the music, only then is it true psychedelic. "

also maybe that has somethign to do with hidden energies that makes you feel like that with only your fingers fluttering/bliss/content.. which comes direct link from source to artist to dj to center of your self reconnecting the whole loop bypassing your ego/mind... oneness

and how can i forget the killer SHIVA GOD SAMPLES that make you laugh...

If I could answer this, then the music would stop being psychedelic. The question and the answer can't co-exist without making the definition change.

That's my definition as well...
If I was able to explain what I heard it wouldn't be psychedelic anymore. I also think that something psychedelic is something that's one particular thing (say heaven) and yet the complete opposite (hell) at the same time...
