Like most people here I grew up in a time when electronic music was in an uprise, so I've been listening to that kind of music for ages... I eventually got into techno and goatrance... and lost interrest altogether in electronic music for awhile... After some time I felt like finding out if goa was still out there, and I stumbled upon psytrance, and even though it wasn't goa, I loved it... and now I'm addicted           To hell with reality! I want to die in music, not in reason or in prose. People don't deserve the restraint we show by not going into delirium in front of them. To hell with them! - Louis-Ferdinand Céline

a teachers son showed me some goa tapes in 1997 ( i was 12) and i got immediately hooked, because i have been into electronics and oriental (indian) music already before. while hearing what the music and the culture is all about, i got immediately hooked, and today i'm totally shpongled i cant remember how it was clearly, but it somehow went like this.

It was in late 94 when a friend of mine gave me a tape to listen to with early Blue Room tracks. Juno Reactor, Total Eclipse, Etnica, etc.

Being a punk/alternative rock/dark wave listener, it was a whole new world for me. Well, after a couple of spliffs and my first ever party a week after in "Alsos" club downtown Athens, it hit me.

I had found my world... and as a Matsuri Comp. said: "Forever Psychedelic"
Don't hope 2 much 4 something cause u may end up getting it...

I got into electronic music in 2000, Started listening to jungle and Epic Trance. Mid way through 2000 I determined that I didn't really like Epic trance or most stuff on a 4/4 beat, and completely listened to drum & bass. It took going to a party near Magic Mountain in LA and 10 drops listening to some of the LA locals at the time: Vortechs, Hidroponik, Bluetech, etc.. I was hooked from that point on. I remember getting in the car to go home, still trippin off of my gourd and I told my friend that I was gonna put down my jungle records and start spinning Psytrance, and hopefully once I figure out what makes it tick, I wanted to make this type of music. He immediately gave me a shitload of Mp3's and told me to enjoy... First songs I ever listened to and loved: Hallucinogen- Gamma Goblin, The Infinity Project- The world of the Acid Dealer, Infected Mushroom- Bust A Move, and Xenomorph- Abominations....

I've been hooked ever since...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

It was April 1998 at a GoodMood party.
My brother and a friend: "Camon man, you will love this." I was like: "What?! Rave?! Techno music?! Nooooo! I can't stand that! Let me stay here listening to my dark and introspective music"
But they convinced me to go, thank God!
As we approach the party, i started to hear a kick pumping out of the woods. We were in the car and all that i could see was a green light coming through the trees, over a hill. I felt a shiver on my spine.
Up the hill we went. And has we arrived on the top i was !
Crazy psychedelic sounds coming from the speakers! Psychedelic art hanging everywere. Lots of people (well, actually they were few if we compare with today) smiling and sharing. All with a great and nice attitude towards others and nature. I thought: "This is it! The return to our essence! The gattering of ppl from all around, meeting in a natural environment, celebrating life and music. Sharing their feelings and thoughts without prejudice. The DJ as a Shaman providing us with abstract musical landscapes from out of this world."
I took some acid (i was allready familliar with it), and some E, wich was new to me.
I really felt connected to nature and with all the people around me. Made lots of friends wich are still my friends to this day.
Was one of the most intense experiences of my life.
Unforgetable! How could i resist this magic feeling?

Nowadays, things have changed, has you all know. But i still can find those feelings at some parties (smaller and private ones). And at Boom festival i felt an energy that i was missing for a long time.

Thank you all!

I think Goa Gil brainwashed me in 1994 (1993?) at the Berkeley Marina

Seriously did not know it was psy trance at the time until I left Cali. It touched my soul and helped me to focus my spiritual self. A bit cheesey but my life revolves around spiritual stuff and psy is just a natural extension of it.

Got into techno around 1990 from going to industrial/goth clubs so flew from there.

i was a raver (still am, kinda) and was really into drum n bass and breakbeats. then one day a couple years ago while thumbing through mp3.com (back when it was cool) i found a genre listing called "goa trance". wondering what the hell goa trance was, i downloaded the number one track at the time - Astral Projection "Mahadeva". just the construction of the synth bass, fast tempo, and odd sounds had me hooked. however, i had no idea where to find more, since most of the other 'goa trance' on the site sucked. luckily, i found an internet radio listing in my iTunes radio feature for "Philosomatika Radio - Consciousness-expanding Goa and psychedelic trance for all your perception shifting needs." i put it on and left it playing for about 3 days, lol. the transformation was almost complete....

then one night when a friend and i were bored out of our skulls we went online to try and find a party. Like they say, seek and ye shall find, because we found that a free party called "psyforia" was happening, so of course we took the trip into boston to check it out. outside, under the stars, next to the river, psychedelic sights and sounds, friendly people, lots of red bull & vodka for me . it was a great time, and made me addicted to psy.

Never heard psytrance till that night.....I've been at my cousin's birthday and had to drive home late....about 3 am....was dead tired. So I thought what to listen while I'm driving in order not to sleep on the way. I found a CD that a good friend of mine had left in my car....there was written "trance 72 minutes"......70 minutes is the time that takes me to get home from Haifa....So I've put it in the player......it was a 72 minutes DJ set from some russian DJ I think....
Next morning I called my friend and asked him for more PsyTunes......................
