I know for real that this is the right place for me but it took me a few years to discover my passion for electronic music such as trance! ive been into several musicstyles such as:
Pop/Rock
Eurotechno
Techno
Dance/Disco
Hip-Hop
Trip Hop
Punk
Hardcore/Happy Hardcore/Gabber

etc etc etc

Do u think youre moving towards another type of music as u grow within youreself or do u think youre practicly stuck in the trance scene? please do take a minute or two and try not to think of yourself as Goa-Gil and Raja Ram. But as regular people with regular jobs with regular cars and regular houses with regular children and regular pets!

Let me hear youre thoughts!

Well i like more commercial stuff like Depeche Mode,Tiesto,Miss Kitten and much more without caring about its style.
I really like everything that has to do with electronic music and sounds good to me,from pop music to psy trance and from electro stuff to chill out tunes.Everything that has a pc involved and a synth i like

And yes people as they grow up they tend to listen to more relaxing tunes cause bang bang becomes boring after some time           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

I was deep into progressive/melodic metal (like Dream Theater, Rhapsody, Labyrinth, Angra, Shaman, Avantasia, etc) and progressive rock (Yes, Rush).

I really didn't like anything from electronic music, I thought that a good guitarist (like John Petrucci) had much more skill than any DJ. But I was wrong. I mean: You really need to be one of the best DJ in the world to make mixes with the same skill that Petrucci plays his guitars, but you can make electronic music with the same emotion or better than he's musics (that are full of emotion and feelings) much easier. Artists just need to be creative.

Than I started to hear psytrance, it was a progressive change that I think happened because I already knew too much rock and metal in different styles, but was still hungry for more... Than in a period of two months I started hear Van Dyk, Oakenfold, tiesto, cosmosis, GMS, etc... I was hooked by psytrance, and started to search stuff to by, but there was no way to buy a psytrance cd in Brazil, other than through the NET... And I started buying, but it's too expensive, and I had bad times with the money, so I slowly became aware of all great psytrance produced in the world.

I think I will stay listening to psytrance for a long time, since inside psytrance I had dark stuff, happy and fluffy stuff, melodies, psychedelic stuff...
And there is so many new things to learn inside psytrance that I think I will atay here for a while...

I don't have much practice in DJing so I really can't messure the degree of difficulty the DJs have while making their mixes. Maybe if I learn a little more about mixing I can appreciate even more psytrance and the DJ sets at parties. What do you think about it?

I mean, im 24, i dont see myself coming out of this trance phase anytime soon.... but i also dont see my kids taking their first steps with hallucinogen - deranger in the background... this really frustrates me since i dont see how any other music could be more satisfying then this one... how will i settle for something else... what now? what comes next? who's against who here? and what are they feeding these giant reptiles.... man dont they see what going on here? its like zoo with these horendous beasts..... anyway, yeah i hope it doesnt leave me forever..... but just as i was like this gowing up on megadeth/metallica/iron etc. i thought nothing could be better, im sure ill be exposed to something i didnt fathom and be swept away too, again. so in conclusion, the puppy ("soceity") needs to be accepted, and that my friends is the industrial revolution...           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

I'm 26 but a long time ago I used to listen to grunge rock shite, then punk/hardcore, then deathmetal/blackmetal/ british prog rock then Hard Trance/UKHardHouse and one day a cousin of mine introduced me to the realm of Psy and I was completely blown away.

I was in search for music that would grab me for a few years, but nothing really did it to me.
I thought at first it was dnb & jungle. Then I moved to hardcore techno and was there for a few years, but still, it wasn't with the same passion.
And then I discovered trance.
I don't think I'm about to move to some other music style.
I listen from time to time to other electronic genres, but 90% (if not more) of my music collection is trance.           Majority is never right!

i've listened to many styles of music and have not said good bye to any of them. so i don't think i'll ever stop listening to trance. if i have to think of my personal top ten list, there will probably be many styles of music in there. i don't think i'll ever get hooked to pop music though. i love the more underground styles of music. i think it's got to do with the fact that it's got a bit more soul and less marketing to it.

i can say that trance falls under my top 3 styles of music though and that there is no order to those three.

hmmm....
at the 80's i listened to Depesh Mode and Mashina (israeli group).
at the 90's i discovered grunge...
like Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam, Nirvana.
and also some metal like Mettalica.
and Mashina and Berry Saharof as for the israeli side.
i also discovered Pink Floyed at the begining of the 90's and they are a music genre of their own.
maybe Robert Wyatt falls into their category.
his first album is one of the best things i ever heard.
at the end of the milenium i went to my first trance party.
from that point im listening to Psytrance.
nothing else.
thats basicly.
and i dont talk about the future cause it doesnt exist.
so for now im here.
anything can happen.

nice topic...

i was a music freak all of my young live (i'm 17). The first music that really attracted me (~1993) was Heavy Metal, Death Metal, which I'm still very connected. After that I got to Electronic Music (...Eurodance like La Bouche for example(be my lover wanna be my lover...hehe ), Hard Trance, Detroit, ...and Psytrance.
Now I'm listening so much different music like psy, detroit, trip hop, chillout, funk, nu jazz and also classical music scores. so i dont think i'm stucking in it!! but always will love it (at that point)

Interesting, I was just thinking of writing about this... Anyway I've been into trance for maybe 3 years, before I didn't listen to anything special. But during those 3 years I have been very anti other music styles than trance.

Now it's kind of changing though. Right now it seems I am getting somwhat bored of psytrance and I listened (during the influence of some 'music-enhancening') some drum'n'bass and dub/reggae which cought my attention.

The future in psytrance for me is people who try new styles, not same £&#$@ thing over and over again like GMS and their uncountable copyers. But I am sure I will continue listen to psytrance artists who try new stuff. For example Infected Mushroom - Converging Vegetarians, I have very high expectations of... and of course Simon Posford, who is two steps ahead of everyone...           Ut ameris, amabilis esto.

I also listen to alot of music. Music is my life. Ive listened to Heavy Metal when I was about 10, then moved to Hip Hop n RnB. Then went to some Japanese Music, then came to Psychedelic Trance.
I wont be moving away from this scene for the rest of my life. I know this for sure!! Thats because I listen to other music too. Hip Hop, House, Techno, DnB, RnB, Jazz, etc...I listen to everything and Trance is a part of it. I listen to Trance 50% and other music 50% this makes it all balanced so i never get tired of trance.
I see myself in the future, as a person trying to hold together the japanese trance scene.

I don't see my preferences really changing that much....just incorporating more.

Especially now with electronic....my tastes go hand in hand with DJing. When I get into a new style, I wholly absorb myself into it for a couple months. Then spend the next few months figuring out how to incorporate it into what I liked before. Then I jam with it for awhile until I discover something else exciting. And so on.

I used to play hardass psy/goatrance. Then I incorporated progressive into it. Then I added on psy-house and progressive house. Lately I have spiced it up with breaks. What is next? I'll tell ya when I hear it....

Music is like chili...the more ingredients the better.

They will ALL be assimilated.

I am on a journey deeper into trance... on the futuristic experimentalist tip I'd like to see a happy marriage of jazz and psychedelic trance one day...

sure, i stop realy like those loud tunes, prefer more downbeatey electronics, need more feeling into and just "good life soundtrack", so minimal house, minimal techno and clicks nowdays keep me live the happy life:)
im kinda reach the true that trance is a party music, so i enjoy it at parties or in my headphones during mix sessions:)
