Trance artists embraced the Aum because it represents the full dimensional spectrum of a wave, from square to sawtoothe to sine. In other words ; 303 !! The filtering and resonating of the sound waves from the original sound of acid -hence - acid-house. om aum eeeium! |

The 303 doesn't have sine, only saw and square (I think), but still, interesting perspective.
I still think that the more reasonable explanation is that the aum is universal and unites everyone and stuff, and so is goa trance. |

that's what makes it so spiritual; it literally is a cosmic vibration, its like in aum or a 303 baseline it contains all possible harmonic and resonant tones of the human voice or language in a single 'word'. A squelching 303 is quite a mantra. |

I must say, The indian culture do sound very interesting, and i like when artists use symbols like Aum in their tracks. Cuz then you really feel a spiritual thing in the track that really makes you connect with it.

mm...very interesting convo, i always thought some of Chi AD's stuff had some indian-ish tribal melodies, i've only heard 4 of their songs at the most.
this kinda reminds me of what DJ Dulo did, from Southern Ireland, he's not so popular, but he took some old irish tunes and mixed them into an album he did, i have the LP, never could find the cd :(
tribal melodies are great, cause they set a certain mood, i dont know how to explain it, irish melodies are good too, reminds me of my blood ;)
Max-i am not all too religious either, i dont hate people in relgions, i respect them, and actaully jealous of them (very very long and confusing story)

it's a symbol, for me it directly connects with trance and has nothing to do with imposing religions... I agree with Shahar |

Ohm has spiritual meanings and so it's related to trance, at least for me it is...just as the practice of yoga, not exercise but practice of theories, i can put alongside trance, there is a connection but you have to find it deep inside yourself. |
