what happened to psy drugs, universal love, unity, beauty in the scene?

why are so many people taking to cocaine and alcohol???? arent those the most ANTI-PSYCHEDELIC substances in existance????

i m feeling more and more dissapointed when i leave parties nowadays...i used to go home feeling so good ... now dis-illusion is taking over... is this really where we want this to go???

what happened to spirituality? or was it just me being utopic at the time and seeing clearly now???

Hehe ! Don't worry ! The psychedelic music is not dieing is only transforming, evolving.
The psychedelic music is the first form of music invented by the humans, and it will never die. And don't worry about the drugs. Peoples take drugs for 10.000 years hehe, there is nothing new about it.
The only problems is that there are to many new commers in the sceen. They need time to understand the trance movement. but in the end everything will came back to normal.
BOOM!

thanks man!
the problem i m seeing is that people who have been in the scene for some time are changing their habits... this is what i m finding scary. if new-comers turn up and manage to go from non.psychedelics to psychedelic then good but if psy heads are becoming coke heads ... isnt this the death of the scene as we know it????
hey maybe i m just a fascist deep down who thinks my vision is what should be...
i m absolutely FOR evolution... i dont think much of DE-volution thats all.

The people joining the scene are always the most powerful group in it's evolution. Just like people in 1998 (with the rise of full-on) and 2001 (the progressive/minimal music peak of success in Israeli) joined the trance world, changed it's culture and the way DJs think about the dancefloor.

It hasn't been just a group of freaks taking acid in nature for a long time now, every step from there has been towards the cocaine/alcohol/extasy standard club drugs and 'standard' rave culture. Spirituality out, stomping hard - in.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

on top of what kaz said, i would to add that this is natural (maybe unpleasent for you) but yes, natural in the growth and shift into mainstream of any subculture. i find myself less and less connected to whats coming into mainstream in psytrance - the dark full on with pure dancefloor essence and imo, lack of tasteful spsychedelia...
but its ok, just flow baby, just flow...           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

Thing is, my friends: when the scene was born it had a mystical aura - and it lost it when it became hyper-mainstream. So sorry for all of us.

i agree...it used to be the music that drew you into the scene....and the freedom to express urself in any way you wished.....the drugs were a way to enhance the experience and open urself up to more music and urself.
these days i feel it is the other way round....it's the drugs and the party life that draws people to our sub culture and there is no room for personal evolution....the music is just the backdrop
......and i agree that the cocaine is definitely draining life out of the scene at some level, not that i condemn any one who does it....it just seems very out of place at a trance party by which i mean that the people who do it at parties seem somehow out of place......but all this is just an observation

Hmm.. I can't really see the point in this kind of threads since for me the trance has become alive again after a pause of 5-6 years..
In my opinion there has been a lot of brilliant releases during the last year, many releases with the same kind of energy that old-school goa-trance had when it was released.
Something that finally convinced me was a party here in Helsinki where Auspexx and Astrix were playing. The music was filled with the kind of energy I hadn't experienced for years at psy-trance parties although I've been going to psy-parties more or less frequently for the last 8 years..

Love and light,
