Thanx for all the info above karnaf & raver girl- I will surely get back to you as departure approaches! We don't have much of an underground scene here, so it will be interesting to try it out. By the way, if any of you is planning to visit SA, a bunch of producers are setting up a trance music festival for the total solar eclipse on dec.4 which will be a gr8 opporortunity to jol. Peace out and party on!           Nothing beats a south african crowd!

Depends on the region and season, but not having underground parties is not in itself a bad thing, the trance community is small enough to ensure that even advertised parties remain non-commercial. In Cape Town Trancegressions productions (DJ Simo) is closely affiliated with israeli productions and brought us Skazi and Talamasca this year! No such luxuries here in Joburg though...

marco the parties are always running here,
it just depends who do you know.
each party you will go here, you'll feel a diffrent atmosphere.
I go mostly to underground partys of friends, so there is atmosphere of friends that you know that you can trust celebrating around you,
doesnt have any connection to seasons or regions,
in here we always party... you just need to find the right people to hook up with...
there are millions of partys in here, some of little kids , some of the old generation, some of people who just have to release the hard week by dancing, some for drugs...

Thanx duplex - Israel has this reputation of a party place in here but I really want to suss things out myself, hence I can't wait to get my ass there! Personally I prefer smaller parties (up to 1000 people) with good sound systems and not too many lights, and with a good mixture of sets (minimalist vs. full-on etc) but I'm really open to anything and I'm sure I won't be disappointed!

Well 500 people is a threshold purely for cost reasons (to set up a generator, rent decent equipment and DJs, unfortunately we also have to take care of some basic security), this is how it works here generally but then again it depends, in winter there's no outdoor activity so there are some smaller indoor parties which are generally cheaper to organize!
I'm thinking of coming in september... hopefully!           Nothing beats a south african crowd!

you com on september, we treat you nice on september.
you come on october, we treat you nice on october..

you can come even with your friends...

we need here turism in israel, so it might be start up, to bring people from abroad to freakout here in partys.

the goverment might be welome the trance scene for being atractive to turist.
