Often wondered what governs the music preferences of a region, is it their country's economic-social position or maybe the populations exposure etc ..

Does war ridden country develop to have a different music upbringing ?

where does electronic music fit in

what do u think ?

music itself is so powerful that it has no boundaries no limits to its credit....

it's more of a mixer of factors u stated           the problem with valuing art is, till u dont understand it, it's worthless but wen u do understand it, it's priceless!!

hmmm ... it feels more like what inspires producers of a certain region to make the music they do. usually in these situations musicians set the tone and the preference of the region usually follows suit.

some the greatest of music has risen out of the greatest depressions. one sides feeds the intensity of the moment and the other side tries to escape it. definitely applies to psytrance as well... each collective at their own story.

Economics, social factors, war - Look at the growth of electronic music scene in UK - it all began in the Thatcher era - the young people wanted to revolt against the pro-rich conservative government of Thatcher and so they did - squat parties, raves - it was all a sign of things to come.           'The meek aint gonna inherit shit'

so Electronic as a genre has the same or more effects as say metal ( in terms of rebellion , needing a voice, or just doing ur own thing).

How does it fit in for India, what makes indians electro-enthusiasts, considering nearly the entire nation listens to Indian POP ( I dunno what drives that )
Is it the conservative outlook of the society against which we want to voice or maybe the political scenario.

when i produce music, i try to attach emotions, make music that evokes emotions, i think its irrelevant regarding the region one belongs to, ofcourse, there's an influence but IMO it just is a small fraction of the composition, in my case.

But i think emotions are the major influence that drives my choice of sounds & music.           We were born naked & grow up to become wicked.

what decides a regions listening preferences .. culture , but that will hardly include psytrance , techno etc .. this is a very niche genre .. and it transcends culture .. now u can get techy here and say stuff like israelis like fullon and swedes like it crazy etc .. but ud still only be talking bout a very small percentage of ppl from those regions .. etc ..

u maybe right...

but y is it tht the israelis like happy full on music,
the south africans like night fullon ,
russians hard night music/hard morning music
swedes more crazier night music ???

i think there might be a lot of factors to this reason including political and social situations..

and of course that most artists from a region my work together influencin each other sounds and the end product ssounds quite similar in style...

i agree with mk47 n cosmic tandav. probably also add musical history of the region is also bound to play a roll, along with the general environment, for example, a russian winter seems to provide much insight into some of zolod's work, just hypnotic really . as for why the israelis make so much full on, it would probably have to do with the level of commercialisation around the region, in the sense that im sure just about every club in that country plays a fair amount of psy, and following that line of though its pretty natural that it would follow a more commercialised formula to reach a larger audience.           www.soundcloud.com/ishikawa
