There's an area of Mexico where you don't need a visa and that's usually within a 6 hour drive from the border. Anything further into Mexico, a visa is required. If you fly into Central Mexico from TJ for instance, you cannot get onto the flight until you get the visa. It cost about 30 bucks if I remember correctly. The last time I was down there and had to get the visa was May 15th, 2010 and I was going to Guadalajara.

Also, every place I've entered the US at whether it's been by land, or air, it's required to have a passport. I've had friends that have been detained and almost denied entry into the US without their passport. The fact that it's listed on the US state dept website that it is required to have either a physical passport or a passport card that allows travel into Canada and Mexico, makes it really important to follow the rules. If the border guards decide to be nice to you, that's all good but risking it will not only at the very least delay your entry to the US, but it also might jeopardize your re-entry.

At the end of the day, it's not expensive to get your passport card, and having an actual passport is one freedom that you shouldn't pass up getting.

Good to hear

I feel bad that Amerika isn't welcoming Glosolalia and Psykovsky to the burn with open arms (and more importantly, an open sound system)           Wake walking through your sleep dream
