So Apsydrop ya doing the long haul from CT, thats definately passion for the culture! What are doing as far as provisions go, food there or are you taking some with? I think the best thing to do is write out a checklist... 5 days of meals (the "stomache" kind), clothing of some semi-recognisable stature, demos, "ticket", 5 days of food (the "mind" kind), a bunch of chaotic friends, a newbie, a humongoose tent with a disco ball hanging from the roof, over-sized arabesque cushions with tiny mirrors all over them, a 10 point hubbly-bubbly, a big trunk of wacky toys and... have I left anything out?

Yeah! I think you've got it spot on, dude!
Would be fantastic to meet you finally too!
I'm busy sorting out the arrangements right now actually.. for the trip.... trying to estimate the prices of everything... and yeah.. that planned meals list for every day.. seems like the best option....
i'll need to shove something 'nutritious' down my mouth once in a while.....
The big shitter is the fact that the petrol is going to be the major expense... there's probably 4 of us in the car.. so that expense is at least being quarterized.....(if that is a word!).
looks like the essentials including the actual ticket will come to about a grand... in total.. and then there's still other things to think about..... so it looks like the party will set my back inbetween 1500 and 2000 buckaroos..... which i'm sure will be worth my while...... definitely. I can't wait.... and yeah.. i'll be bringing a clomp demos with me.. planning to hopefully meet some of those names I only see on CD's.... I definitely wanna say wassup to the infected crew.. and i gotta meet posford too.... i just hope i don't drool all over him in excitement! anyways..... when are you leaving for the party? |

Well, I'm probably going to leave round-about the 1st - gonna stay on my aunts farm in tzaneen for a couple o' days just stockin up and chilin out. Then I'll leave first thing on the 3rd to to get a nice camping spot. I just can't seem to get any tracks finished at the mo', it's really bugging me - but I should have 4 or 5 of them by then. We should definately meet up and have long shpongled conversations. I think quarteriSed is a word, or is it quartered? I'm almost all there, just need a couple more deranged friends and the food

apologies to those who got caught in the cross-post...
beeeeeeeeeeeeeg respect to the alien safari, vortex and etnica crews for an absolutely magnificent party!!!
blinding decor, blasting sound, power venue, mean tunes!!! no matter how hard i try, i just can't get the damn grin off my face.
the trouble started when i almost left home sans tent, went on to lose my way from jhb international to pretoria and then realised when we got to the venue that my malaria tabs were nowhere to be found (gin & tonic in vast quantities just happened to be a worthy substitute).
choice music pounded relentlessly from the dancefloor, but, for me, the finest musical moment of the week was undoubtably friday afternoon. yuki commenced proceedings with a set of the most uplifting but intensely psychedelic music i've ever heard (well, since the last time i caught one of her sets) and then....b'jesus...aleph and skragg stepped up. 4 hours of hard as nails, nasty psychedelia - every single tune a monster. absolutely brilliant!!! fantastic to see our local guys showing EVERYONE exactly how it's done!
our camp was nothing short of an asylum ruled by loons...not that i could find the place ever
what an awesome crowd!!! particularly up for disorder - smiles and more smiles everywhere went with the nicest vibe i've ever encountered at a party.
the eclipse - eish. the energy!!! i shudder to think what would've happened had there been no cloud (it was TOTALLY overcast)
big love to everyone - artists, organisers, the friendly peeps of limpopo province and stompers - who made the week what it was....superb

Oh those pictures surely bring back some good memories! Wow SA2002 was by far the best festie I've ever been. 5 days of pure heaven...the music, the venue, the deco, the soundsystem but mostly the awesome friendly vibe was like nothing I've ever encountered. It has been a real privilige to kick up dust with the most beautiful ppl I've ever encountered! Me and my friends came from Holland for this festie only and it sure as hell was worth every penny! It was also good to hear what's shaking ppl's butts in Africa at the moment, Rinkadink, Starspine, Dready Mike and all the other local heroes who's names slipped my mind seriously rocked! I wish it would go on for months....Anyway I'll definitly go back to beautiful Africa ASAP and stay longer to check out Capetown, Transkei and wherever something groovy is happening. I'll put some of my photographs of the festie online soon. Peace! |

yeah, what an amazing this party was. Everything was awesome, the people, decor, music, venue. The opening ceremony with the African tribal dance and drums set the mood just perfect. Beautifull smiley people. Music full-on non-stop! The eclipse was my highlight while i think Tristan was playing, hell broke loose! Was good 2 see people from all over the world come 2gether 4 a celebration of life. this is one of my best journies into the wonderful world of trance! |
