Bom Shankar is like Praise Shiva (generally said before sparking a chillum)

Shankar = Shiva = Bolenath (Shiva has many names & many forms)

This seems to be Russian originally.
The old Russian definition was a temporary light wooden construction for a market, living quarters, shows such as theater and puppets.

Then it morphed into the last part only, namely a traditional theatrical show of a comical nature with a primitive set.

The current slang version of balagan in Russian is anything crude, jester-like, unserious of an unpolite (poshlyy) manner.           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.

In Israel balagan means a mess. This can be a negative mess (like how my table is looking right now, or even something worse) or this can be a positive mess (like the hight of a party when things go really crazy).           ---------------------------------------------
