i have a concept idea, something like a soundtrack for albums but on the visual side:
basically its an animation of the whole album as seen from the eyes of the chosen artist. an animator sits down and listens to the album and writes down a concept story of what he sees in the music, later he draws that story, like Disney's "Fantasia" where its not like weird shapes and psychedelia that repeats and fractals in multicolor blasting your eyes like in most parties (not that its bad), this has much more substance.
i think this could be a whole new subsection to music, like the "soundtrack" sections we can have a "visualtrack" section to cd's. i can see it, kids sitting at home watching this on dvd and talking to each other about how they saw the same/diffrent things in the music... further then that, you can have visualtrack remixes.... like one artist telling a whole diffrent story to the same track 
am i making any sense? does anyone dig this?

i thought of some examples like the mtv clip for "king of my castle" or daft punk's trilogy... but thinking about it more, i know those were not done 100% for the music composed. in daft punk's videos it was nicely mixed into the story, but not the story itself... in "king of my castle" they basically just took excerpts from "ghost in the shell", so again not much thought put into it. i dont think it has been done yet... can i quickly copyright this idea

Good idea, but I think it already exists. I already saw music videoclips made with images from japonese animes, for example. Some are very well done, others are quite funny (like the one from Bon Jovi that have some porn anime stuff on it  ).

Yes Full On. This already exist!
You can check how many trance compilations include a DVD with a visual trip story for each track.
This should be more explored for sure.
And would be a good idea to estimulate the CD sales against the downloading fever.

Really? Psytrance comps with a DVD? Can you give us examples of which albums or tracks have this feature?

The problem is that a 6 min. professional video animation costs a fortune. If it's just some home made video it wouldn't be very interesting.

im not sure whats the name of the track but...
Chemical Brothers made a video clip that maches the sounds that are beeing heard in a perfect way... the concept is a train riding along and every time it passes a tunnel,building,electricity wire etc. etc. the track changes...real cool and real "avantgarde".
have a nice TRIP.

Mixed cds would have an extra "bang" added to them if this idea would happen. Each video would flow into the next just like each song. Or one video depicting the entire album. |
