Anyway i am happy to have worked with labels such as Vertigo records and Morning Monster records who have no troubles to pay upfront. 
A small label such as Morning Monsters where they spend all their hard earned money from working shitty day jobs into releasing a killer CD and making sure the artists get paid for their trouble. much respect! |

indeed always plesure to work with MMR and vertigo , as well from my expirience Free radical rec, zaikadelic rec, parvati rec, all are trust worthy peaple that i had real good vibe with

A point of view from an insider: psy trance in Japan has died, thatīs true. One of the murderers is VQ nonetheless, with their ugly parties. Iīm still amazed when I see rare psy CDs on sale here: thereīs no public to buy them. Thatīs why you didnīt get paid, I guess.
People still go to some parties, but they donīt buy CDs anymore. So much easier just to dwld them.
You canīt cash in what wasnīt sold.

Well the market in Japan is destroyed so no wonder at all that this has happened.
As about artists asking for money advance and labels paying these money in advance well 90% of the labels out there are a joke and cant afford to pay anything in advance plus 90% of the artists out there are also a joke and dont deserve to get payed anything in advance (not to mention at all).
Now you know why 90% of the music out there is tottally shit since the joke labels (who cant afford upfront payments) release the joke music (by artists who beg to get released no matter if they get payed or not) and both of them are happy.
And if Vision Quest released a cd named Fresh Full On then there is a serious problem with the label indeed.

For sure, the Japan scene collapsed and the CD sales as well...but it's the same all over the world isn't it ?
Based to our experience, I have to say that Japan is still selling more CDs than the whole rest of the world...of course numbers are so low that it's looks like a joke, but still better than Europe... maybe I will change my mind in the next months  |
