Its not possible... its a vicious circle.
If all artists will start demanding money upfront... a lot of small labels will shut down and then 10 good labels remaining will have to choose from 500 artists about what material to release. If the artists cannot release music on these labels because the labels dont like the material or disagree to the amount the artists wants ... then new labels are going to be created by other boys or the artists themselves and rules will change again ... with no advance payment or other perps that should be a right of an artist.

Maybe that's why there is such shit music in the psytrance scene lately. Cos labels can't afford to buy good music. |

There is a big Problem right now, to many artists want to rls, and some dont care about money.
Good Music ???? Where ?????
Please tell me....
I only see shit shit shit been rls, SAD BUT TRUE
In 10 cds i only catch 1 or 2, and from this 1 or 2 few tracks are good ;(
Not Paying for Music should be simple to solve.
Send a demo ok you like, you want it????

I would agreed with you but... the situation of Solstice is quite difficult now if I believe everything I hear around there ... maybe not a good example right now 
(although they are really nice people!)

Well, I'm often reading this section of the forum and I discover more and more fiasco everyday in this scene... which prove me the psy business is becoming a parody of professionalism:
artists doing and giving tracks without to know if or when they will get paid, labels who even don't know if they will sale enough to stay alive and pay the guys of their roaster (so why to start a such business if you are unsure to avoid the bankrupt??!!) and some label owners who are taking advantage of the physical distances between them and the artists (I'm living in Japan, the artist is from Israel, I don't give a shit to pay him, he can't find or catch me anyway, and other dirty thoughts like this one...)
This joking industry is dying progressively acting like this.
So sad news indeed...
