Is it too hard to ask for upfront payment before giving the track away? Why do people keep repeating the same mistakes? |

After the TPE story (+ the "good old ones" from Arcadia) problems continue to rise on the japan psytrance scene...

well..looks like most of us believed that a big an respected label like VQ wouldnt do such a thing.
Unfortunatley these days almost no label pays upfront, they need to wait for the money from the distributions, then they pay you. And this works with all the other labels we work.

Don't be surprised if they come through after seeing this thread and realizing what a public relations nightmare they have on their hands Isratrance seems to be remarkably effective with these sorts of issues...

disagree, the 90% of labels pay after of the release, "some of them doesn't want to take a risk paying the andvance because the marktet" ,the rest (10%) belongs to major labels, Hommega, Neurobiotic & Solstice so you just can't, suprise that you psychotrop have an opinion like this one you know of this... anyway, there is a lot of labels that not even pay an advance or after so this is getting worst & worst each day.

The problem is: I'm a producer and if I don't receive advanced payment, I don't give my track to the label. Ok, I'm very rightful, and straight and stuff. But then, another producer will do it without the advanced payment. What does it mean? Labels don't need you! They will always have an upcoming producer thirsty for promotion and ready to give his/her (Psynina is a woman right? RIGHT!?) track away...
I'm not really a producer, not even a DJ, but I see things this way... if ALL producers don't change their atitude, the situation will not change to...

yo hugo
first of all i don't think we can still use the term major because even these sell nowadays around 1500 2000 copies max
anyway, at least the artist can ask 50% of the track on the command, and get paid the 50% rest when the track is released(contract agreement)
if all artists would do the same thing labels wouldn't have no choice, and would accept this
i was just saying by "agree" that it should be the normal way!
but as the trance scene is going down everyday and seems to be unprofessional... (luckuly exceptions still exist)
it's like when u play on a party or festival and you don't get paid: the normal way is to be paid before putting a feet on the stage to perform

@psychotrop
you've got a point , but still...we're no newbys, we released 2 albums and over 30 compilation tracks, and in all the cases it worked out. Sometimes we recieved the money befor..sometimes after.
So when you face a big label like VQ, you excpect money shouldnt be an issue. I mean they still do partys every month for thousands of ppl.
Of course with new labels i never worked with, i ask 100% befor, thats kinda normal.
