Utopia Records is out with their fourth release this year. They follow the modern, uplifting side of trance. It is a compilation compiled by Ananda Shake, who plays as a dj on a lot of parties in Israel these days, but also produces music, including an album (Emotion In Motion) on Utopia Records earlier this year.

Uplifting trance is the right word to use for the style we get on this label these days. Here we get very typical Israeli full on from beginning to end, done by mostly quite fresh artists. But, we also get a couple of veterans here, including one of the biggest surprises in a long time, a new track by Passenger (Guy Zukrel) who is a pioneer in the Israeli trance scene. He was one half of the super duo called MFG. Passenger is his solo project, and the last I heard from this project was the album called For All Man Kind released in 1999 on Phonokol. So, how does this artist sound today? Actually not even a tiny bit different from all the other Israeli full on artists these days! So, I have to admit that it is a quite big dissappointment. Another interesting sight on this track list is a remix of the classic Self Oscillation track by Deedrah. Well, I totally prefer the original, instead of this clubby version, but it might fit better into the modern full on sets that the djs play these days.
Psychedelic trance can hardly become any more clubby than this. This is for sure the style the masses wants these days, especially in Israel. For me, most of it sounds pretty dull compared to psytrance made a few years ago, but if you are into uplifting melodies and easy digestible soundpictures, you might find this interesting.

Ananda Shake - is one of the best artist, and what can i say - there is a good reason for that, really gr8 selection of melodic full on music.

ppl ... these is good ... not every review is soposed to be killer and etc. ... disc is done and all the rest is up to listeners ... pks seems to dislike it and that is cool, not everyone is soposed to be interested in this kind of stuff ... it wouldn't be normal ... so ... ppl just coment this compilation and dont go of topic plz ...

Way to go PKS, I like it when reviewer assume their own position, in my opinion, this cd is very cheesy, we should propose to those artists a new genre for them: "the uplifting trance", because this is too clubby to be in the psychedelic music.

yeahh wow realy realy bad cd & for sure the review explain exactly every track & hes story pffff(realy bad review & its realy not couse of the negative comment its just not appriciate itself)...hehe lol....didnt like ananda shake's tracks to cheezy and so all the cd....i guess that all the ppl here know what they talking about i guess they r in the trance sceene for long time (pfff get real).....lol...so what if in the dance floor it works & ppl scream hehe....& so what if we get alots of good mails about it...the most important thing is that its a realy bad compilation....hehehe.....anyway i hope that u'll enjoy of it & to all utopia family i m realy glud & proud to be a part of this family.... realy realy killer va i liked the tracks in it & if ppl where know what they talking about they would spk different.....cheers....shake...!!!

my favorite here ovcurse is ananda shake tracks, amazing rmx to deedrah and huge energy on fashion tv!!!pure trance music!
