Well, those of you who know me know this is a long time since I posted a review. This was partly due to lack of time on my part and various other factors coming into play as well.
However, hopefully I can continue to write reviews and promote the music we all love.

So what have we here?

1. Apocalypse - Space katett's starts off very groovy, very flowing and smooth. It has an old school morning touch to it, very reminiscent of old S-range tunes and a bit of Psysex (especially the intro). However, when we cross the 4 minute mark, this track becomes a camembert - it oozes with cheesy, nu-goa melodica, which fits best to the sun-laden Ibiza shores. A cute track, it ends without much pathos to it, and is quite listless in my opinion.

2. Blackout - hipped up is a step up in both production and structure. The techno loopwork incorporated with that rolling bass moves along quite nicely, driving the track with acidic synth hits and stabs. A very airy break leads to a nice psychedelic climax, with a screeching, plastic-like synth work. Disappointingly, this climax comes too soon, and the track's final minutes are wasted on banal synths and a simple structure. Quite the anti climax, but a good track nonetheless.

3. Sesto Sento - water pipe - I was quite impressed with the Ferbi Boys stint that Sesto Sento pulled in com.pact's NWOS 002, and therefore you could say I came in with somewhat elevated expectations. The Sestos have left me with little disappointment. Water pipe is an excellent mover-and-groover, a rolling bassline coupled with powerful loop work and melodies. The melodic break and intended breakdown are well made, and lead the track with something I've yet to hear in full-on tunes of late - a story. As it unfolds, Water pipe becomes a beast of the morning sets. The fluffy, airy vocal synths combine well with the deeply resonated acid synth. The buildup in itself has a nice hook and jab for you. An enjoyable tune by all accounts.

4. Ultravoice Vs. Aquatica - Diamond sky. Aquatica strikes me as Com.pact greatest talent to date. His tracks are always over packed with incredulous synths, breaks, loops and an insane drive. Ultravoice has been a favorite of mine as well. The combination of such different and diverse style could very well clash and bomb out. Not the case with diamond sky. Mixing Ultrvoice's unique build of groove, and Aquatica's penchant for sick, twisted synths and relentless drive, Diamond sky is one of my favorites here. An open, spacey tune, with a mellow, tender, yet uncompromising groove, it builds up smartly and leads to a winning finish, feeling Aquatica's heavy touch, but not without Ultravoice to even it out. So far my favorite tune in this compilation.

5. visual paradox - first sun from the rock - I've had my reserves about VP's music, and I came in to this track hoping I'd be proven wrong. Alas, it's quite the formulistic tune, using sounds from "Save the day", out on com.pact's NWOS 002, as well as the over-used "Roll the drums" sample (also found on NWOS 002, albeit on a different tune). First sun from the rock is, at best, a filler track, if nothing more. The oft used sounds hardly do it any justice, and the track is left somewhere in the middle, with little to no development. The pitch bend move was done over and over, and provides no interest. The melodies near the end are a nice enough addition to spare this track from further fall from grace.

6. bizzare contact vs. phanatic - seven days - Plastic Fantastic has been one of my favorite releases in recent times. So, I've grown accustomed to BC's professional work ethic and originality. Phanatic, being ex bizarre contact himself, contributes to a nice tune. The bassline rolls along nicely, with the familiar BC melodica and breaks. A melody heavy tune, Seven days provides a nice sit-back-and-enjoy-the-music type of tune. Not quite the monster tune, Seven days is a very mellow morning tune, coupled with a nice break and a monotonic synth which brings back the melodies near the end. A fun tune, but nothing more than that.

7. the misted muppet - spiritual visions - ahhhh, the Infected sound hocks are back with a vengeance! Just kidding, but MM have always reminded of infected mushroom of old, with the acidic sounds, bassline and loop work. Spiritual visions is not that much different, albeit with a more solid bassline to support the rest this time around. The opener has a nice ethnic touch to it, but it only comes to serve as an appetizer to a nice, acidic tune. Bustling and hustling with a jumpy, scratchy melody, MM bring back the oriental hijazi scale, while keeping the acoustic guitar as a nice supporting cast. The main climax is a nice melodic overture, serving a slam dunk with a twist. A nice groover, Spiritual visions does little more than just that. With no added value to an otherwise solid tune, it winds up with a flimsy finish, quite uncharacteristic of Israeli full-on.

8. system niple - pro logic - SN have often surprised me with some original writing and structuring. However, the niple needs some maturing before it reaches puberty… a nicely crafted, slinky tune, it progresses through several lead changes, moving from clear and sparkly to dirty and dodgy, without much context in between. A nice tune all in all, it lacks a certain seasoning, a more experienced touch all around. SN melodic writing utilizes a lot of 80's elements, which were pretty much chewed up and used. A nice break, with some Infectedesque kick-bass-percussion parts involved takes the tune to the inevitable finish, without much in the way of rejuvenating the synth lines or sounds.

9. Ultravoice - Air waves - coming back to close this compilation is Avi Levi's Air waves. A dramatic opener leads to some soft-looking, lurking synths. As we all know, though, looks can be deceiving, as Ultravoice breaks it down in a dramatic fashion. Quite a different bassline in the opening, very amorphous and mercurial, combining with nice acidic sounds, ultravoice quickly shifts gear to a rolling bass with those soft looking synths, now back in full tilt. Utilizing the "this should be played at high volume" sample to its fullest, Levi moves along nicely, changing the bass once again, giving it a quirky feeling (nothing to do with Quirk, give it a rest (: ), setting it up for a final showdown - groove combined with simple yet effective melodies - a straightforward, clean finish to quite a solid compilation.

Summary - Com.pact are slowly starting to build a name to themselves as a new powerhouse in the Israeli scene. This compilation, albeit suffering some weak spots, is quite solid and matches up with Natural waves of sound 002. A bit more solidity in some of the tune selection is quite desired, but other than that, a nicely crafted full-on compilation.
Personal Favs: 3, 4 (!), 6, 7, 9.

i disagree.
This one has to be the worst release from Com.pact at equality with Natural waves of sound 2.

It's eitheir flat, without soul or too way much syruppy & polished clubby commercial.

According to me, it's better to avoid it & people should prefer buying Lish's Free Fall album instead if it's not already done.

Indeed. I completely agree with Le Lotus Bleu here. Nothing special. It sounds like a lot of other full-on releases these days and does not surprise in any way. Only grab this if you can't get enough of this style.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

I must point out and stress what I wrote at the end - it's a full on compilation. don't expect it to be on the same page as set 4 or somthing like that.

le lotus bleu, if everyone went according to you, we'd be stuck with lish's sub-par outing. I am not writing a recomendation, I am writing a review. if i had to rate this compilation by numbers, somthing which i abhore, I would give it a solid 5.5 on a 1-10 scale. it has good sound production, but the cover sucks (It really does...) . it has 3.5 or so good tunes and 5-5.5 which bomb out.

yes, it's commercial. what did u expect? on the other hand, i don't remember the last time i heard a tune without michelle adamson (or any other singer, barring lish's dreadful song, for that matter). i don't see you rant about the 99fm release, while we're on the commercial subject.           "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. Spiritual Visions is a great track, don't get me wrong. But anyone that falls for the act of anyone playing that kind of melody "live" must be a sucker. I mean, get real here... how can someone play these quick fast paced (and pitch changing) notes??           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. while i came to Dagan's studio to give him payment for my party (by the way it was an excuse to see him working he know that! ), i saw him play this live, of cousrse without the doubling fast paced notes this is impossible i guess.

anyway there was another guy from metal band in his studio, i couldn't stop smiling while they played together, too good to be true!
never saw psytrance artists play like this they play full concert with 4 hands .

this is something you don't see everyday...
