OK! So we have one good concrete release here! WOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!! MAXIMUM RESPECT!!!
When i put tracks in my player its start with earthquake!!! Volume on MAX and here go...

1. Tecnotica - Mentalisten
Creepy voices and sound confused, make me trill. Start with Kick and bass with admixture of brutal dark pads. My head going up and down. This is fuckin' perpetu mobile!!!!!! Crash and Burn!!! Actively & mightily! Dance like nobody is watching u............

2. Black Machine - Wrong Way
Am i ever doubt in u my friend? Oscuro and his hard beats!!!! I love that sound more than anything. Hard kick and fat fat fat bass. Atmosphere is on the high level of performance. U have loop in control. Everything is great. Night is on the dance floor!!! Hard kicking!

3. Epi Centrum - Epi Centrum
I really like the way of using hats here. I like when all those hats and rim shots spin in one loop. Atmosphere is also really good here. Many waters like samples and something like tb 303 machine. It makes me chill to the bones! Aliens speak!

4. Kali Frogz - Agent Orange
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu its start with sooth groove! I like ti so so... Great low freq! Also like sounds that reminds me on claps with bunch of delay. Really mystic!!! Distortion on pads is kind of real thing in track. Lovely!!!!!!!!!

5. Metalogic - Transit Flash 2004
Excellent start of sounds and here go with huge fat kick which is remind me on big rubber balloon!!! Bizarre in totally! Something like slow dark music. Not bad at all but im more into sound like it was in first tracks.

6. Le S4b0t3ur - Sabotage
In the beginning of track i was think that nothing will happen but i was such a wrong! Excellent of manipulate on the rhythm line! It use very good filters here and it makes very god breaks on right parts of groove line. Synth is also mighty sound! This is going to be really shake the ground belove ur heels on the dance floor! Rocks! Hard!!!

7. Trimada - Underworld
Uuuuu Trimadaaaaaaaa one of my favorites tech producers. WOOOOOOW!!!!
I like they sound SO fuckin SO!!!! Of course they didnt disappoint me again and they never will for shore. Its mechanical sound on the every way of that meaning. Great. Super great.

8. Gothica - Beats and Breaks
And this is kind of night psy sound. Very good. Very aesthetic. Great beats and pads. Very mighty concept of song. It more psychedelic then the rest of track but its fit in VA!
Part before break with this lead full of distortion is AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM GOING TO DIE OF HAPPINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!!!!!!

9. The Star Shring Shooters - L.I.S.
Starts like intense scene in horror movie and go rhythm like disso. But this will going to be a SCARY DISCO DANCER! Extremely great mixing of hats and shots in loop. Did i say that once? I think i am, but sorry im fellow man of spunk on this

So what can i say ppl? This is one of the best compilation that i heard on this year!
I would like to recommend to every woman in the trance world to listening tech vibes cause it so inspire for hormones of happiness
Cheers!!!

Except the tracks of Epi Centrum ,Kali Frogz,Metalogic & Trimada the cd is very weak. i excepted for more but all the new artists the involved in this VA need to work more on their production & sound and not to stuck on "random"...

Thought your track was sick, mate. Like that dark atmopsheric/techy fullon type sound.

Dude, Im listen to tech trance for a long time and its one of my fave genere.. i pulled the name's of the acts that their tracks sound good to me, so whats the connection between how much time im listen to tech trance??
and yea, this is a weak cd if i need to compare it to other tech trance cd's.. the production of the other artists in this cd is boring and dont have power or something intersting what ever..
if i need to compare to cd's that rls by labals like : Horns & hoofs/boshke/jester or any other labal that rls techtrance then this cd is not even compare to the level of them in sound or production of the tracks.. this cd have not even 1 big "hit" or a "wow" track..
and about the mastering, well it have no connection to the fact that some of the tracks sound pale's and that the ideas or production in some tracks are boring and sound like a loop that repeat it self...
This is my opinion..

Cheers

http://www.ektoplazm.com/reviews/five-tons-of-flax/

Five Tons Of Flax is the first release from Mechanical Dragon, a newly formed sublabel of Sonic Dragon chartered to focus on psychedelic techtrance. Although techtrance dominated psytrance shortly after the turn of the millennium, the rise of the progressive and full-on movements led to a wholesale abandonment of the style. While many artists continue to explore the murky borderlands between techno in trance in the modern day, very few have continued to explore the devastating cybernetic aesthetic pioneered by artists like The Delta, Midi Miliz, Authentik, PPS Project, and even (for a time) Wizzy Noise. Compiled by Simon, Five Tons Of Flax resurrects the post-millennial techtrance style remembered from the dance floors of yesterday.

The compilation begins with Mentalisten, the first release from Tecnotika (Israeli producer Omri Azran; one half of Intersys). The hazy introduction, punctuated by fittingly chaotic samples, sets the mood well. As the track develops, languid chords drift across a fat set of rumbling beats. Distorted noises and grinding industrial percussion establish conformity to the stylistic conventions of the subgenre. A competent beginning.

Black Machine (Maxi AKA Oscuro and Yoko AKA Cardinals Cartel) showcase the mean-spirited side of techtrance with Wrong Way. Heavy beats descend with mechanical fury as eerie atmospheric sequences evoke a sense of impending doom. A stormy sample in the breakdown contributes to the dark mood of the track, and the remainder continues to crush and crumble with impunity.

Epi Centrum (Jerzy Przezdziecki) drops in with a self-titled track—produced, perhaps, back in 2004 or 2005. Jerzy is known from the iconoclastic Bigwigs mega-group as well as his quirky solo work under the guise of Praecox. The Epi Centrum project seems to represent a far more straight-forward approach, as Jerzy delves into brooding technical rhythms beset with paranoid atmospheric oscillations on this intriguing number.

The French group Kali Frogz seems to have taken up where Tetraktys left off in 2005. After releasing several free singles on Sub-Machine.net, the group has begun to make commercial releases on techtrance compilations such as DJ Clown’s Rewired (2006). Agent Orange is a menacing behemoth smeared with filthy percussive loops and piercing insectile stabs. This crunchy piece of techtrance is sure to deliver on the dance floor!

The Toronto-based artist Metalogic employs a dry and mechanical approach that tends to draw far more influence from conventional techno than most of the other artists on this compilation. The static quality of the rhythmic programming heard on Transit Flash 2004 makes it seem rather reserved; most of the activity seems to take place in a very limited space. The one exception is a grim lead that drones on in a few peak moments. Not bad, but I tend to prefer slightly more movement and dynamism than can be heard here.

Le S4b0t3ur is Joakim Håkansson from Sweden, an artist formerly known as Dopamin. Sabotage exhibits a kind of malevolent sonic brutality seldom heard since the soul-crushing productions of Authentik and Source Unknown infiltrated the airwaves. With wildly distorted kick drums, screeching metallic leads, and slick structural surprises, Joakim has taken his style to a new level of wickedness. The results are fantastic!

Trimada (Jonas Andersson and Tarek Mansur, who previously released on Digital Structures) delves deeper into the labyrinth with Underworld. Stark, hollow, and repetitive, the charred beat pulses and throbs on automatic. There is no sign of organic life here; only the machines remain. Theatrical opening and closing sequences bookend the song, and a short ornamental break punctuates the very centre. At two particularly striking points the track twists and contorts under the pressure of a convoluted effect sequence, maximizing the power of the bleak and oppressive rhythms. Daunting.

Hailing from Israel, Gothica (Daniel Zarkhin) makes an extremely impressive debut with Beats And Breaks. Blending polished chrome rhythms, massive mourning leads, the sweeping atmospheric presence of X-Dream’s Psychomachine, and an effective array of subtle filters, this track seems to have it all. Beats And Breaks is a rare example of what I call the tech noir aesthetic, an extremely specific mood conjured through the use of rich cinematic themes. This track is pure class!

Described as “a mixture between techno, electro, psychedelic gothic electronics,” The Star Shrink Shooters is the new project from Holeg & The Spies (Charles Rapeneau and Alexandra Mercier). L.I.S. transcends the limits of dance music; I could imagine this working well in the context of a film score or art project. Imaginative in its execution, this haunting dystopian thriller possesses a rare kind of vision. Sublimely stunning.

Five Tons Of Flax is a solid release showcasing a refreshing assortment of modern psychedelic techtrance producers. Simon has chosen well; the resulting journey is very cohesive. In the same respect, the compilation may come across as being somewhat monotonous as it focuses quite heavily on one small aspect of psytrance. For the dedicated techtrance fan this will be a godsend; for anyone with only a passing interest, it might be too much in one dose. Personally, I can’t get enough of it. If you like your psytrance deep and mechanical, Five Tons Of Flax offers a superb selection of killer beats.

great cd. i am very pleased to know that there is one new tech trackce label, just in moment i thought techtrance was dying... all the trax have its own story and atmosphere. my favourites are mentalisten, epi centrum, sabotage, and maybe the most intelligent-trippedout-psychedelic-techno-whatever track L.I.S - well done holeg and the spies!! and i must say im disagreeing with duyoush, production level is really high, as gothica said, tim schuldt worked mastering (can it be bad?)... and, also im glad to see many artists i used to love working again (dopamin, TARER MANSUR and holeg and the spies)... all in all, i expect much more psychedelic techno sounds from mechanic dragon...!!
all the best
