V.A. - "yggdrasounds" (Yggdrasil) CD 2008

01. Konkylie - underwater
02. Procs - open up
03. Krusseldull - banana boat
04. Hutti Heita - EQ 4 U
05. Zoolog - maria johanna
06. Hutti Heita - twisting the night away
07. Alter Ego & Loke - spectral ghost
08. Loke - riding bridges
09. Derango - ginnungagap

the second output of the young norgwegian label Yggdrasil Records burdens themselves high expectations with their debut compilation "Nine Worlds" which was outstanding and for sure a surprise in the psychedelic community. Let's see if they could make it to keep their standard.

Konkylie is another project of Kim Svendsen and Frank Ottesen, both also forming Loke from Norway. As it's a norwegian label, so i like the idea to start with a local. A short wave welcomes you into the world of Yggdrasil and a snugly base pulsates while the sounds flirring around and building it slightly up. yeah ... there is a hint of the mushroom bubbble dissappears again to leave place for more ripple and patiently setted adds of more atmos and little tit bits creating the portal to more.. and there i am .. the dungeon adventure is up to begin, this was the introduction, next level to come .. niceeeeley prepared!

Procs already well known in the game, Mikael Stegman recently released his second solo album. his sound is special and as i loved his first album as well as his recent second one, his contributions are always exceptional and so this track is. and his albums were usually also a coherent story not really possible to pick a single track, so this one feels a little bit deplaced in my opinion. after the smart introduction by Konkylie i might expected a better fitting track. i imagine how this one fits in a bigger story and love the playful arranged rippling lines coming from behind and fading apart but never dissapear totally to keep tension till the end. wonderful psychedelic work, in a so friendly way left me grining behind.

Krusseldull is the solo project of the head of Yggdrasil, Alf M.F. Olsen. yeah ... this wobbles from beginning with a deep groove and many little squeeky sounds as i like them to be implemented ... a patient build up with these little rippling drops becoming more and more intense. playful arranged as i like it .. here somebody put a lot effort in it, something of this kind attracts attention here ... after a third of it first main lead creeps in like a bewitching hand scoops up for you .. throughout a very friendly goodie, but to be honest .. in a way becomes to smiling with its full duration for my taste... not means i use to ban positive vibes from the music generally!!! nevertheless he ends it consequently with this bewitching soundwave and more weirdness and created a wonderful morning track!

Hutti Heita is a fusion of the skills of Alf and Kim Svendsen and already appeared on one or other compilation. was looking forward to taste this as they already catched my attention with thier first outputs. not loosing time they enter the deeper world of psychedelics. scratchy sounds and a rolling groove .. and very soon i am hijacked in a big mushroom bubble. ..then i feel enterprised with these whale sounds .. at leats i had impression of the lead as i tasted first time here at home... they add the kicks where they fit the best and have the feeling for the right drive .. like this track very much and with the consequent feeling to end it tripped out in a proper way its for sure one of my favs on here.

Zoolog is Mikkel Petersen from Danmark, also part of the Annyoing Ninjas. this sympathic dude from Aarhus / Denmark makes it sure from the first sounds what i am up to now .. and of course the Aarhus base-drum marks this as a typical sounding track from those freaks coming from where the trip feels homey. no useless breaks to build up tension is already there, a forcing drive to keep you moving and many little sounds spangling the whole bubble around me .. atmosphere is there, acids flirring around in many different shapes, but in the end part a bit bovine for my taste even the pitch of the groove he used, should move the floor massively .. i tasted this on floors which worked wonderful, must be the best proove Mikkel did it right again!

Hutti Heita take part a second time in this very nice VA. second contribution by them and again they delight me with a deep psychoactive bubble catches me. what the title may bespeaks they want to twist you away .. u will regognize it! .. and with the deep groove and the squeezy sounds draped with spirals they again managed it to take me by their hand and creep deeper with me into the dungeon. many impressions showing off, left or right ... some i try to catch but they ripple apart to make place for another door , yes man this is the shit !!!.. the door is closed, but i listen to the sounds behind seem to speak in a foreign language to me .. mission approaved, twisted me away.

Alter Ego is Frode Mathiasen here combined with Kim Svendsen as Loke again. starting up with weirdness from beginning .. crumbled voices trying to point in the right direction .. and suddenly the base starts, the atmo has you catched right from beginning and heads down, movement on the dancefloor! and as i love these lines creeping in bewitch you and fade away again, i am not the biggest fan of too much changes in the arrangement. sometimes it stucks the flow, nevertheless they manage it to get back to the track in the nick of time keeping up the tension. spectralized!

Loke is the other project Kim Svendsen and Frank Ottesen forming and release their second solo track on Yggdrasil. I still have the track on "Nine Worlds" in mind, with this voice crept like a earworm into my brain! also here its a massive atmosphere from beginnnig and again lots of little changes in the arrangement making the way through the dungeon yet to another acid test! this candy forces to use all senses to understand, throwing you from left to right, and you feel it this must be near by the final stage. rippling sounds coming up in spirals, yeah man!!! ... damn nosy what to expect from this artist in the future. a more sober and patiently build up would create a psychedelic bomb, i know this!

Derango dont need any introduction anymore, Ola and Jens Eriksson from Sweden are for most of the psytrance community the most famous act around the globe, if its about intelligent made and tricky arranged deep psychedelic soundscapes. this track is no exception in my opinion, its more fast paced and they didnt have so much time to build an epic monster like the few recently released tracks, not seldom had a duration over 10 minutes. the bonus level of the game, and after so many different dungeons i successfully passed this one comes to the point quit more early, and is filled with these creepy atmos and long stretched lines to work on a fricking-frightning psychedelic bubble they usually left you behind. and again they did it properly, and again i have to say if you put a derango as a finishing track on your cd you already won the game. they always left you with new ideas a psychedelic experience more and in the end its just left to mention, yes it was another derango track!

What to conclude if you find a so good cd with so much killer tracks indulging the senses. its a really remarkable job these freaks from the north did again. and in my modest opinion they at least made it to create a coequal successor to the debut compilation with not just good names in the line up ... no! also great tracks they all provided. I like the cover also very much, but to emphasize it again and to point the blank finger on, the work these low budget project by the sympathic fraggles from Norway took so much effort into, needs a big thumps up!! they deserve the support and i feel to steal a good point i red in a review to another great cd before: some releases doesnt deserve it to be compressed!!! this cd belongs to this category. highly recommended for the psychedelic lovers of the real candies. A treasure, buy it, keep it, enjoy it!

thx for the music!

@mk47bro-> mister loke a.k.a kim has been around for quite a whiiile- its just that not enough people india side ever had a clue such kind of acoustic frequencies existed.
i mean - yes- derango is derango n all that bla bla - no disrespect: still the ultimate juice of the cream music the derangos make bt the point im trying to make is that derango everyone knows / has heard about/ dies to go to festival to hear, and loke on the other hand - has been around norway side- kickin up d scene up there - wit their own sound.
notonly loke kim dude, there are so much more- even frodo makes nice stuff. kankas nice i heard his myspace- this is basssically a super kila cd with no faults.
brilliantly compiled - insane concept and full adhered to - and the output on big speakers soounds fullly fantastic- nice job yggdrassil crew n keep at wat you guys do!
even the first v.a 9 worlds - released sometime back - but i noticed it caught everyones attention areound 6-8 months after release.
even before that one was a promo one by yggdrassil which just had norweigein psytrance promo written on it in 2005 if im not mistaked- that was also kila music man on that cd.
so its coming slowly slowly man - lots of people are sitting holed up somewhere wherever in their respective studios/houses/caves/jungles?? .. making some f**k**g killler killler music- its just about getting it far out to enough people to listen to .
which comes to the next discussion which we wont start on this thread about how badly we need a store in india which sells cds physically on ground.

so ye: kila cd ! 11/10. it will kick up a storm played wherever

v/a nine worlds was a fantastic voyage..still need to listen to this one more however..

hows this for a suggestion: yggrdrasil and sanaton should team up for a split v.a            - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
