I recently received this CD and thought it was good enough to share with you. It is called "Ultimate Energy" and it was compiled by DJ Anaharta. Whoever that is. I think it is a Swiss DJ. Brought to you by the same people who brought you theGoodfellas comp. The line up is pretty impressive.

1. BLISS- Final Cut

As this sits in the deck, I see it is almost 10 minutes! Time to strap myself in. Gentle synth tones with a bassline bring us in and invites us to "go for a ride?" Ok! We are M-O-V-I-N-G! Nice detuned lead keeps the head ringing. After a break which included an American Indian? vocal, the bassline changes and carries the tune with higher, escalating build-ups. The vocal chant comes back and then fades. With the next break we have some good spacey psy along with those light tones. And then we are dripping with an acid line and all comes together, including a nice key change. Very good stuff. I don't know who Bliss is, but this track will force me to investigate. 8/10

PAINKILLER- Ultimate Energy (Akira)

Title track...should be a banger! Funky bass and hi-tec sample. Groovy percussion. The bassline is very aggressive and the lead has good flow. Oohh that lead just got funky with that bassline. Me likey very much! If you don't move to this you are dead. The flute or recorder adds a nice touch in one of the breaks, but then the lead returns and moves you. This was a great track, another mover. 8/10

PUZZLE- Opening

"Ladies and Gentlemen could I please have your attention...Just stop what you are doing and listen! You have my attention! This is another moving track with plenty of psy and very good synth lines. Hold your breath,... the acid could asphyxiate you. 8/10

MEKKANIKKA- Non Sense

The driving bassline is rivaled only by the groove of this track. I wasn't to fond of the slight change in key of the bassline around the 2:30 minute mark, but it was very brief. Besides, between the melodies and the power of the bass, there really isn't much to do but...move. Another great track. 8/10

CPU- The Reaktor

On to one of my favorite artists. This track reeks of build up funk, and I like it. The funk continuew as the bassline progresses and a gurgling lead surfaces. A metallic sound hums in the background and I cannot help but to bob my head. There are sounds coming from everywhere and they all fit together well. Outstanding! This...is how it should be done. 9/10

KALI.- Ready To Fly?

I feel I have heard the bassline before, but I don't care. 5 tracks into this comp and we ar moving full-steam ahead! The synth lines dance across our neurons and drench me in sweet, sweet acid. My mind is overflowing with melodies and the keen sense of movement. That bassline cracks my skull as if it were a sledgehammer! Breaks only allow me to catch my breath. Just barely. If this keeps up, I will have to see a chiropractor! Nice track, with good vibes! 8/10

PAINKILLER Feat. DJ TOXIC- Space Dance

This is another good track that not only creates a nice spacey atmosphere, but keeps you moving. The sounds are well placed and the rhythm is infectious. Wipe the smile off my face...I dare ya. Not possible. 8/10

BIO GENESIS- Music Control

That twisted lead gets you right here, and with the key change takes you to that special place. Thumping bass brings my heart to my chest. Pretty good mover with plenty of sounds to keep you occupied. 7.5/10

KALI- Free Me

Last track and I am about grooved out. Not that Kali will give me a rest though. Sinister percussion behind a nasty bassline makes my legs continue to move. The evolving lead makes its presence felt but it is toying with us right now. At around the 4:20 mark another lead dances across the scene and gives us power till the end. Nice. 8/10

This is how you put a compilation together. All of the tracks are movers and I didn't detect one filler. The production sounded very good as well. I don't recognize all the names, but since when is it written that you have to be a "big" name to make good music? Now who could I be thinking of? I will leave that up to you. However, I can wholeheartedly recommend this CD to all who like to move. One of the better CDs I have heard in a while. Great job Materia! This label bears watching. 8.5/10

One thing that confuses me though...on the Materia site, they have track 6 as Painkiller's "Space Dance" and track 7 as Kali's "ready to fly?" It is opposite on my copy of the CD. Which is right? Anyone?

Favorites: 5!!! and the rest.
