VA Hammering the gates of soul
(Inpsyde Media 2005)
After one year, Inpsyde Media is back with a new compilation Hammering the gates of soul. Compiled by dj Natan and Inpsyde Media, it is supposed to bring us the psytrance sound of the future, so let's have look at it.
Hammering The gates of soulNo intro, no decent track, the compilation starts straight ahead with kicking track from TERMINATOR from Russia. Of course "Kfsbk on submachine" has the russian metal full power sound, drivin kick and bass, no time to rest in the wild dark psychedelic atmosphere. Strong track, which will kick every dancefloor.
The second one is "Communication breakdown rmx" from SEROXAT. It is typical Seroxat track with his "trademark" sounds, great party killer, nothing surprising from him, good work.
EQUILIBRIUM comes with another russian track called "Ex-er-sis". It is a bit different from the contemporary russian sound, it is hard, a bit minimal with metal samples, industrial feeling and weird psychedelic parts. Sounds dirty, fresh and interesting.
NEXUS and DARK PSY joined together and made the track "No network". Dark portugal full on with fat bassline and lots of synths and various samples. Same as for Seroxat, no suprise, but still good powerful track to listen and dance to. You get what you expect.
"In malo veritas" is the first track from M.W.S., the austrian project, and it's a really nice surprise. It starts with fat quitar, kick and bass, it is getting more and more dark with voice vocals builing mysterious atmosphere during the whole track and finnishes with metal storm in the end. Simple one, but working great! (and the guitar is really not cheesy and overused, wow, it is more like Tim Schuldt sound).
And another russian production here again and for couple of next tracks as well.
"Deprivation Chambers" from FREAKING is one of his strongest track I've heard so far. He still uses the flat kick and bass, but this time the track has a lot of dancepower and also brings nice atmospheric melodies for twilight times or morning. Great storming psychedelic track with a nice story and radio signals!
BIG NOISE are taking us on a "Power Ride" following the vibe of Freaking with flat kick/bass and floating twilight twirling synth melodies. Well, the previous track is much more stronger, but this one is not bad. It is like a comfortable waiting in psychedelic sound space for something to come.
And it is CYBERPLANET with the track "Wasabi". A raw full-on one with a wild bassline, singing leads and funny happy intermezzo. A hard morning track, dancefloor oriented.
With EXITED and "Lirik on outer space" we are going darker again even this one is quite minimal, driving track with a few samples and noises and tribal feeling. But in the second half there is a bit of light again in a decent melody.
DERANGO is closing the compilation with "Boomorgon rmx" and the swedish psychedelic sound is about to shake your brain with derangos spooky melodies, acid atmosphere and driving rhythms. A very psychedelic wild one.
Inpsyde Media did this again and follows the great "There is no tommorow" compilation with another great release, where no single track is bad and most of them sound fresh and different from each other. You are flowing through tracks of different mood and atmosphere while listening to this compilation. It is not that dark, as someone might expected from Inpsyde Media's new release. I wouldnt categorize it as dark psy compilation, it is just psytrance. And if this is psytrance sound of the future, I am happy then. Go and try this one.
