This is for sure a great opening of 2005!!!

This amazing compilation from Flow rec. combines a great proggy tunes and powerful psytrance which can be perfect for both home listening and ofcourse, playing in parties

Dj Pena pedantry picked any track of this list, and after so much great sets he gave all around the world, I’m sure we can all trust his taste of music

It’s certain that , any person can find something he likes in this compilation. It contains big and hot names from the trance scene, and takes the listeners to a perfect trip from deep low bpm proggresive tunes from James Monro and Sativa, thorough Freq and Yotopia, to dancefloor killers from Human Blue, Echotek Vs Side Effect, Quadra, ManMadeMan, and this great track from Hydrophonic (you should try this one in a party!!!!)

Another great release of Flow rec. it was worth the waiting, and going to be played allot all around the world.

Enjoy

VA - Echoes - Flow Records - FLR0513CD

01- FREq - 16842 - 134BPM
Aran has produced a deep, phat track with funky, quirky robotic pads that make your body groove. Very different imo to other great tracks released in the last year. Some nice little explosions of sound that tear you apart. (9/10)

02- Yotopia - Pepper ball - 142BPM
I was keen to hear this track after hearing their lovely progressive track on 'VA - Battle Royal' released on ZMA last year. This track is a little harder but still maintains a deep encompassing groove. I really like the light trippy sounds, xylophone or pan pipe-like melodic riffs and the beautiful atmospheric pads that take you into the heavens. Lovely stuff. Keen to hear their upcoming album. (10/10)

03- Echotek Vs Side Effect - Another era - 140BPM
A really nice warm beginning leads into a nice heavy bassline with a deep kick layered with lovely zippy, crunchy pads and an uplifting light choral atmosphere. Progresses along nicely adding layers of percussion into a resonant breakdown with a powerful classy melody and a shattering wobbley sound that traps you into a bubble of sound. Quite breathtaking to listen to. (9.5/10)

04- Hydrophonic - Creepy cheeky - rmx - 140BPM
The Tacon brothers have made a 4/4 fullon remix of the breaks track found on their 'Aquabatics LP - Nano.' It has a lovely deep bassline and uses the epic melody from the original effectively over the top. The distorted female vocals and male vocal stabs sweep about over the top. I think this track would be more effective speeded up a little. Nice remix (7.5/10)

05- Quadra - Beyond the music - 141BPM
Quadra's 'Serotonia' LP on Solstice was really enjoyable sunrise music for me so I was interested in hearing a track of his on a Flow compilation. It starts off mildly then kicks into a full on style with percussion, tearing morning pads of varying styles. A background atmosphere as the track progresss leading into a great melodic riff. A very good track with a different styled Quadra sound. (8/10)

06- Manmademan - Absent mind - 143bpm
I interested in their work at the moment after hearing their great remix of 'Tristan Vs Electric Ant - Six straight days.' The track is pretty full-on and psychedelic with a nice rumbling bassline, metallic bongo drumming, acidy pads and confusing vocal samples. The track builds up into a swirling, distorted vocal that hangs around for a little while. A good night track for predawn. (7/10)

07- Human Blue - Evolution - 140BPM
This track is a pretty dark stompy track to what his recent LP sounds like. A deep, heavy bassline prevails throughout with dark, trippy pads wandering in and out building into a psychedelic atmosphere later in the track progressing along nicely. Good in a warmup set, kind of like a Sensient or Beat Bizarre track would be.(7/10)

08- James Monro - Deeper - 130BPM
A techy progressive track with some tribally overtones and drippy resonating pads making it pretty trippy. It builds up gradually and takes off with a rocketing sound and moves like a glider through the atmosphere. Ends up being a very good track (7.5/10)

09- Sativa - Fat arse - 133BPM
Sativa have produced a dark progressive track with an interesting, :cut: light shifting pad. It builds up nicely and aerggh I don't know. It's a nice track. You will like it if you are into Double Dragon and Beat Bizarre stuff.

A very good compilation by DJ Pena of mostly progressive styled tracks in a darker, groovey style and a few full on tracks that don't follow the trends of current full on.

Favourites: 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6.

8/10

Epic album, really glad that I got hold of it!! A nice album of good bpms (no higher than 142!) and smooth sounds. This is the kinda album that I've been looking for.......you get a bit tired of playing albums at home where the bpms are really high and dancefloor orientated.

i think its a bit strange you guys are reviewing this and even calling your own songs the best... i wont change any of this, but for sure will not permit this in the future. to be honest it looks more like promotion then a review. think about it...           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

Might look like it at first, but there was no real harm done in this. Yoni probably just copied the release statement out of somewhere, which mentions his name. This is not the first time an artist has reviewed a compilation he appears on (and positively at that). Granted, they do not usually review their tracks, which has not been done here, or call their tracks one of the best (which has).
The only thing, Surrender, please don't erase posts in the future that might be helpful and that seem on the surface to be promoting a CD. Honestly, any good review is promotion, I almost never review CDs that I really love if I don't think that others absolutely MUST buy them too.           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. I dont mind reading the review from whoever posted it. Sometimes its nice to read it coming from the artist/lable, cause they are describing the tracks exactly how they wanted them to be listened and heard, or they themselves interpreted the music. Not so?

this CD is worth getting for the Human Blue track alone. Must be one of his best tunes ever. Mindblowing!

Excellent compilation!!

This is one of those cds, packed with great moments. Freq, Yotopia (great surprise for me), Hydrophonic and the last three: Human Blue, James Monro and Sativa, they all make "Echoes" the best compilation of this year (yes, I know we are still in february ). Up there with "Playground" from Iboga and ZMA's "A Day After"

Totally agreed, that's kinda weak. Doesn't matter though, previewed it and I'm buying this for sure. Aren finally sounds like he broke the mold, and there's other highlights too. Longer review later on
