It is funny you said something about this Gadi because I thought the same thing when I read it. I doubted they were being discriminated against because of their gender or race. I have never heard them DJ myself but was suspicious the reason they were not being booked was because they could not DJ and Pisces1979 comment was groundless or off-base. Honestly, if you look at the EDM scene as a whole female DJ's get booked more often because they are female. I have heard many female DJs in the past that should not have been DJing but were just because they were good looking. But don't get me wrong there are some truly wonderful female DJ but there are also many up there DJing because guys want to see a pretty girl up there. Anyway, I'm glad you brought it up.           my cat is deathly afraid of aluminum foil

No worries mate... My name got mentioned, so I felt the need to clear the air.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

i'm glad to see (by examples) that this is not anything that happens in our scene as i thought...
the way pisces1979 was writing i felt like there was some injustice i dont know about...
obviously not.

Race shouldn't matter when most of us believe in little green men           tiger got to hunt,
bird got to fly,
man got to sit and wonder why, why, why?
tiger got to sleep,
bird got to land,
man got to tell himself he understand.

OT but tangentially related:

I'd heard about Jordana Lasesne before. I think just changing name and appearance will have a weird effect on a DJ's career -- independent of sexism -- but she seems to have done well for herself.

E-music is kind of an "old boy's club"; it's not that females are discriminated against, just that they're not as present. Guys collect more records, buy more synths, and pick up techniques from other guys... it reinforces itself. But when a DJ rips it up, it doesn't matter whether they're male female or anywhere in between           tiger got to hunt,
bird got to fly,
man got to sit and wonder why, why, why?
tiger got to sleep,
bird got to land,
man got to tell himself he understand.

i must say that if there is one scene that does not discriminate, it's the trance scene. one of the things that drew me to thr scene (apart from the music itself) is the fact that trance is all about being yourself and freedom of expression. without knowing the DJ's in question i have to say that there is no way they are not playing because of color or sex.

as a promoter and dj myself,i have to agree with satlanny, besides the music, the one most biggest reason i love this scene is for the uncanny love and respect that you feel from every single person you encounter,no matter what sex,or nationality. This scene-movement,is build on that one huge difference........i hope it will last forever........
peace and love.......

Well you cant book her if you can't get in touch with her that's for sure.           assumption is the mother of all fuckups.

ok as far as female psy djs.... i can think of a few.
Lara (seattle) - this girl is all over the NW
akasha (SF) - havent heard her yet, but i know she is real.
lauryn (boston) - she kicks it hard!
meghan (cleveland) - has been playing out more lately!
coral (virginia) - she is part of our crew, and has rocked out touch samadhi partys on several occasions....
so thats just off the toppa my head. i know there are more!
i dont think theres really discrimination involved, just the sheer numbers of djs and the girls are the minority. i dont know very many black people into trance at all, and i cant remember if i have ever heard a dark psy dj haha

Being half black and half india-indian, I'll be honest with you guys.

Most black people do not spin trance because they're just not into it. I've tried to get many of the black people in trance music, and they look at me like something is wrong with myself.

Fact: Most black people don't spin trance because it's something that does not interest them.
