Well, its a simple question - if you are an artist or DJ, do you expect to make a living out of it as a career per se.. or is it just a passion/hobby and what you get paid does not matter.. since you have an alternative source of income or a somewhat bigshot father who's ready to support you for now! Do you have somekind of a vision that is not personal enough and can be shared here?

Also, how much does one get paid to play at a party/club? what are the variables, and elements that the 'how much' depends on? Also, how much does a label pay you for releasing a track for them? how does it all work. please discuss this, im a noob

rite,
so ive been doin this for a couple of years , and will continue for god knows how many more years..
i love it as a hobby..
money aint the criteria.. unless one wants to go professionally into this genre
wat money u get from labels ? depends..
200$ is wat was normal for me , never asked more. often contributed for free. doesnt matter. as long as i get the cd and the line up is solid
all depends how much one expects. .
some artists have charged a bomb, but hey , they make a living from it alone, and gigs..
ive not done any gigs, so wudnt know that aspect of it
and i make music from the lamest of softwares and speakers ..
make most from the least...
have an alternate career ,
maintains a balance in life

@ silent horror nice inside story..hehe..so all those crazy sound designing and all those pschedelic layering s come from lamest of speakers and softwares..haha..i dint knw that

Hi forest dreams,
reason for not doin gigs,
i see a performer as an artist who knows his stuff in and out, which goes for any profession , he who knows his job best delivers it best.
i dont intend to be artificial. im honest, i dont know Live music theory, i dont know sound engineering,
i dont know the whole concept of sound design,
i know my boundaries, and prefer not to make fool outta people, although i know most audiences arent aware of who is playin wat, u know it deep down , ur fooling urself and others, not worth it
i have a job at sea, where i work with my hands, and i know wat im doing,
when im ready with performing, ill do it

for now, as long as people are happy with music i make -they hear in cars, home, outdoors, anywhere , im glad i did some contribution .
as said above " seeing ppl going mad on the dance floor and ppl listning to ur muzik sitting in different parts of the world and appreciating it..PRICELESS."          ------------------------------

I think that quality efforts should be rewarded with monetary compensation to ensure they continue..the acceptance of gigs where djs are not paid makes them treat gigs poorly very often and the music quality suffers as a result..

Djs who provide good music should be paid for their efforts so that they can provide themselves with a decent incentive to keep doing it in the future..i think thats in every partier's interest..wot say??

^ a new DJ is often not recognised, till he has a name amongst locals, then states, then nation ..
the beginning, is important.
but i guess, once u have come up to the standard, u wudnt go back , and will ask for money no matter wat ( for professional DJ's atleast) . for those who do it outta passion , it really doesnt matter

if ur passionate enuf for this genre, or any other for that matter, talent will follow, and money might/might not, atleast u have the passion for it still goin strong
Motivation doest not exist($ wise), unlike other jobs, well , i got motivated after goin to other artist gigs and thought, ye that sound was awsome, or , that intensity was awsome,
it aint the money which shud motivate ur drive in anycase ..
art comes out naturally.. not cause u see more money so ull make it better.
it works other way , u make a better art, u might be paid better for it.          ------------------------------

a perfect vision of a psy scene would be high quality equipment, low entry costs and killer locations. which means dj's and artists cant be payed much. this would be very disappointing if they are all full time artists.           peace to you and peace to me.
