hello all,
so whats going on at the moment? aside from the redoubtable tipworld and the relative newcomers alchemy (and thankyou btw for continuing to fly the flag) our label scene in this country ain't what it used to be... circa '97 / '98 we had tip, blueroom, dragonfly, matsuri, phantasm, flying rhino - some of the biggest labels in the scene, all based in the uk. now half of these are de facto dead (or at least not releasing psy) and the others only limp along - why has this happened? any ideas...
of course this could all just be down to my (warped?) perspective, but i don't think it is..           >>love will tear us apart...<<

hey tom,
thinking about it it was all going well around the late nineties but i seem to remember the demise of the distributor Flying Refcords hurts a few labels. I believe TIP went down (it then reemaerged as TIPworld) and a number of others suffered as wellas well.
But i just read on another forum that APPARENTLY (this is not confirmed i suspect), Flying Rhino have become the latest victim of financial difficulties. Is this true anyone??

found it at 'www.psynews.org' in their forum

apparently the rhinos are indeed down, check the thread in the trance forum... and another thing, atomic records, have they released anything lately - these labels hardly ever update their websites, so the info on them is often years out of date...           >>love will tear us apart...<<

I've been informed that *Eyal Yankovich* will be helping with an *Atomic Records* Compilation soon!

Does anyone know what's happened to Phantasm ? They haven't released anything this year at all, the Loaded compilation has been due out for ages but never appeared. I've heard a rumour that Cosmophilia owes them a lot of money (along with a lot of other labels), is this true ? I really hope they haven't gone the way of the Rhino, because they've always been my favourite label.           I said no to drugs... but they didn't listen

I think AMBIVALENT RECORDS (of that devout duo - deviant species) are still ticking over, releasing small droplets of dimentia in to the main.. 'stream'..!           ---------------------------------------------

does anyone know if the rhinos are down for good or simply reorganising and finally getting rid of all connections to psychedelia by setting up a new label?

There's still the Ex-sphere/Optica bunch, and Resonoise are trying to survive somehow.
As I understand it one of the main problems in the UK is distribution.           ---------------------------------------------
