I am a Liverpool fan and i hate Man Utd but the red devils were by far the best and most consistent team of this years Champions League and they 100% deserved their title, whoever claims the opposite either has no clue about football or he hasnt seen many games of all the teams of this years tournament.

When this tournament started the main contenters for the title (apart Man Utd) were Liverpool,Chelsea,Valencia,Real Madrid,Milan,Barcelona,Roma,Inter,Lyon,Arsenal and Sevilla.

Very early on the season it became clear that Valencia,Lyon and Sevilla were out of the race title.

Sevilla after the death of its player Puerta tottally collapsed (in my humble opinion it became very clear that the team was using heavy drugs to deliver the good results last year but when Puerta died the drug story stopped and the team just couldnt perform),Valencia proved that was a team of highly overated players like Joaquin and Vicente for example and that the old timers like Albelda,Baraja and Canizares werent the good players of the past, just Villa couldnt save the team and when Kike Flores was sucked and Ronald Kouman came in charge i knew that the end was already there because a Dutch inexperienced coach was the worst choice that time for that team,Irrureta was free at the time from Betis and he would be the ideal choice for Valencia if you ask me.Valencia almost got relegated but was saved just two games before the end of the Spanish Liga so they got plenty of time to reorganise,oh and keep an eye on that amazing youngster Mata on the left.Lyon was an outsider and early from the start of the season many injuries kept the team away from its potential,if you ask me the end of an era is close for the famous french team, too many players are going to get sold this summer including Coupet and Benjema.

All three italian teams were doomed even before the Champions League started.Milan squad was a joke and its about time someone realises that half the team has to retire, its a shame for a great player like Maldini to keep playing and even insisting on renewing his contract for another year, better for him to retire before he becomes a joke.Kaka by the way is getting wasted there, for me he is along with Christiano Ronaldo the best two players in the world at the moment.Roma for some strange reason for the last two years plays a strange tactic system with no striker and with Totti in charge of its offence, some great players on both defence and the midfield but a team cant rely on free kicks, corners and long shots for winning a huge tournament like the Champions League,an egyptian guy just bought the team so good for them if along the huge money that he is going to spend this summer for transfers he gets couple of good strikers,oh a reliable goalkeeper would also be nice because that brazilian guy they got is a pure joke.About Inter i got nothing to say, this team is cursed or something and they somehow manage to commit suicide every single year on the Champions League, they got a great roster on all lines but when the pressure gets high they just collapse like a tower of cards, same story every single year and the same ofcourse this year too,if i was Moratti i would be in a lunatic asylum already. With a new coach and a smaller roster (big rosters and rotation are not always good) maybe next year they manage to do something more.

Arsenal has a nice team but building a new stadium left Wegner with no choice rather than building a new team for the future since there were no money for transfers. For the next couple of years dont expect much from the Gunners but when the youngsters get more experienced we might see some big suprises from their side. They got high ambitions,a great coach and an amazing fitness level, when they play more games they got potential to become a great team.By the way am i the only one who thinks that Adebayor doesnt fit in front of this team? This guy is slower than me for gods sake.

Barcelona was the joke of the year for me this season,Raijkard is not a coach and even my mother could see that Barca couldnt play decent football with just one defensive midfielder in the centre of the pitch because Yaya Toure is a good player (i know him very well since he played for my team Olympiacos for one year) but he is not Superman or Makelele in his youth.Xavi cant mark,Iniesta cant mark,Deco cant even run and Ronaldinho is the most overated player of all times and he can already be considered as a retired footballer along with his friend Andriano.Building a great defense and gathering super stars in your offence wont lead you anywhere unless you help them with two hard working defensive midfielders in the centre that will prevent the opposition reaching your area.Laporta and Raijkard need to go away fast.

Real Madrid has a good but highly unstable team (watched them twice against my team Olympiacos with a draw in Athens and winning us very very hard on the last minutes in Madrid although we played with ten players for the whole game and leading 2-1 up to 65th minute) and their elimination by Roma was a huge suprise for me.Again here same symptoms like Barcelona, not a good coach and too many attacking players in the squad which gives space to the opposition for attacks from both wings. They seriously need to invest in the midfield if they wish to establish a good team in the Champions League next year.

Liverpool same old story,a dissapointment in Premier League and some nice games in the Champions League but always being an outsider. We built a nice offence this year with the purchases of Torres and Babel so now its time to built a nice defence too, right and left back plus a center back to help Carragher are urgently needed.Other than that Reina is a great goalkeeper, offence is ok,midfield also ok (maybe a right winger) and Rafa on the bench is a good coach.

Chelsea has some great players but never managed to create a great TEAM and when Mourinho left Grant couldnt make things better.Money cant buy everything in football (look Inter for example) and Peter Kenyon along with Abramovich are now looking to built a new team for the new year based more on teamwork rather than individuality,by the way Malouda is highly overated and Makele cant make it on his own in the midfield,no need to mention about the urgent purchase of a right back. They got potential and next year they are along with Man Utd the main favorites for the title if you ask me.

So these were the main contenters, lets now see Man Utd compared to them.

The whole world hates Sir Alex but noone can deny that he is a top manager, among the best ever in my humble opinion and a class of his own.

Van Der Saar is an amazing goalkeeper among the best the football world has ever seen, how he came to play for Fulham is a great mystery for me.

Ferdinand with Vidic fit great in the center of the defence and both gave a solid perfomance in the final by tottally eliminating Drogba.Among the best central defenders in the world.

Evra is highly reliable on the left side of the defence but i cant say the same for both Wes Brown on the right side and Gary Neville who grew very old and to be honest i never understood why he is playing both for Man Utd and the England squad.Right back the only weak spot of the team if you ask me.

Carrick and Hargreaves will not be remembered in ten years from now but they are both great in their roles as defensive midfielders, hidden heroes if you ask me,so important for the team but no glory for them unfortunately. The whole team is based on them and Sir Alex knows that. They need a backup though just in case of an injury because i am not sure Fletcher can replace them.

Scholes,Ronaldo and Teves need no introduction, football machines they all three are with Scholes being the master tactician in the team,a way underated player who kept a low profile in his whole career,he and Ryan Giggs are two of the greatest players and football minds i have ever seen.

Rooney up front is not the greatest striker but he does the job that Sir Alex wants him to do and that is closing down on the whole pitch creating a constant danger for the opponents. He also needs a back up.

Man Utd was clearly a better team both individually and as a whole, just because Carrick and Vidic and Scholes are not as famous as Vieira and Canavaro and Kaka it doesnt mean that they are not in the same class.

Football is a team sports and Man Utd was the best team all around this year.

Sorry for the length of my post.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

Nice ONE detox
You made some spot on points interesting insight on the subject you have.

Ok Frank Rijkaard has QUIT barcelona, so apparently Barcelona has no coach as of now.. and you are spot on with the squad DECO is pathetic when it comes to offensive attack they complely lacked IDEAS in front of the GOAL they need Strikers up front with Samuel ETO in news of leaving the club Mister laporta has some serious thinking to do this season.

Inter sure is the unluckiest team to grace soccer today and Rumour has it that Jose mourinho is in talking terms with Morrati for a coaching position, Mancini is a Good coach no doubt but LUCKY is not with INTERNAZIONALE

Ac Milan needs to break the bank balance over the summer and they need to rope in fresh players in the BACK and Defensive Midfield, I mean Lets FACE IT the current SQUAD has aged, to many ABOVE 30 players and their efficiency goes down on a lonG season with so many games.. i think the coming season AC milan will make some important decisions and they bloody well do it.. no champions league next season i think mr silvio berlusconi has FULL ATTENTION now... and i hope they do bring some good quality players.

AS roma >> Geez The are too dependent on Francesco Totti. Totti didnt fire this season as he did last year, the result is not dissappointing cleary INTER was low on confidence after they got booted from champions league which allowed ROMA to close the gap right up but the lack of cutting edge in attack and that GOALKEEPER haha DETOX u sure were correct pathetic, Too much of air ball play from the wings they have good players on the wings like pannuci,But they dont have strikers to meet these passes then why play like this ? Weird.

Real Madrid got out of the champions league because on that particular month they didnt play well and roma played an exceptional 2nd LEG in bernabeu. I feel Squad Confidence is very important for success.

Well this season will be really interesting in terms of transfers i want to see the ITALIANS back, Juventus has a great squad with tremendous spirit amongst them.. lets see how this season will go down.

Sometime i wish if i was BORN in italy, atleast i could have seen a AC MILAN VS INTER MILAN DERBY. time will come..

Barcelona does have a coach, Josep Guardiola, and Rijkaard didn't quit...check your facts, he was fired.
And, by far the best point Detox has made is this.

Fired..QUIT whatever
The point is he is not with BARCELONA anymore.
I was not aware of the new coach so instead of a local newspaper providing me information, i got it from the most unlikliest of sources, YOU.

I doubt Abramovich fired a wannabe coach to hire another wannabe coach.

Hiddink is the man but i am not sure if he can find a solution with the Russian federation and sign him.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

Whoa
Thats brand new INformation yet again, DRUGS/STEROIDS for enchance performance now i dont believe it happened...as i Understand every league conducts DRUG tests on regular intervals for each club and members of it in this case the LA liga Authorities should have noticed by now that the whole sevilla squad is taking performance enhanced synthetic drugs...how didnt anyone come to know about this and im sorry what was the "real" cause of puerta's death again ?

@Trippy >> Frank Rijkaard is apparently Taking a break from coaching as far as my sources tell me...plus i dont understand why they Fired grant? i mean chelsea did well throughout the season and almost took away the english premier league title and then unluckily lost to ManU in the moscow final..both the situations chelsea was unlucky and after mourinho left them they were in tatters, Grant was the guy who go them together as a unit..and he still gets FIRED.. i dont understand. Now Fabio cappello got fired last season becuase his coaching methods was something Real Madrid is not accustomed to, but they still won the league so its fairly understandable that Madrid wanted a different setup within the team(Formation ETC). But why Grant what did he do wrong in chelsea? EPL stuff i just dont understand nor i follow too closely..anyway. New coaches hmm Ottmar Hitzfeld is available, Roberto mancini, Marcelloo Lippi are all contenders im sure it will be a foreign coach
