(hurray hurray, long live the new born sport section!)

so, quarter finals first leg over...

Roma 0-2 Man. United
Schalke 0-1 Barcelona

Arsenal 1-1 Liverpool
Fenerbahçe 2-1 Chelsea

who's your favorite?

this year im feberbahce all the way, it would simply be lovely to see them win it...even tho their chances are really low
(and yes, one, if not the biggest reason is because Zico is their coach)

then again, i see Man. United as the most probable winner...

          un-fucking-believable

Man. United probably wil meet Barcelona in the Semi Final.. that wil be -killer- game

but too many English teams in this level.. too bad.

I dont wana see 2 English teams in the final {thats probably what wil happen..}

I Wish for the final wil be Liverpool - Barcelona..

lets see..           ..."Be yourself, let your conscience guide you...

Awesome i have been following this competition since 1998 now. whoa i cant believe its been 10 years...been a supporter of italian teams in this competion and otherwise, Juventus and Milan being my favourite not too forget the highly unlucky inter-milan, who i think have the best squad in europe.

Anyways this year has been kind and lucky for the english teams, and unlucky for the Italians...and it usually happens in season sometime you see 3, spanish or 3 italian teams in the quarter, not to forget 3 italian teams in the semi-finals of the 2003 competion (Inter milan, AC milan and juventus )

I expected a lot out of roma, after their run of form in SERIE - A, but they dissapointed me a lot the other night... too bad they will be mauled by MAN-U now.

It wont be a all english final for sure, and fenerbahce will beat chelsea and will evertually bow out in the semifinals. my bet

It will be arsenal Vs barcelona repeat of 2006 final and barcelona will WIN again this time, they look really solid this season barring a few underconfidence which creeps in their game sometime.

I hope MAN-U burn in hell against roma hehehe the most overrated team IMO ( I wonder how they still win )

well, i do see Man U as a really strong squad, C. Ronaldo been flying (and will prolly be elected best player of the year in 08), rooney and teves are getting along really well, theres also Anderson, who IMO will be one huge star in a few years to come...

i agree on inter having one of the strongest squads in europe, and is indeed sad to see milan out of this one, but one thing i dont agree on is Barcelona taking the trophy this year, they have been going thru some big crisis, going not that well at all on spanish championship and having recently lost the spanish cup... Deco and Messi injured, Ronaldinho is not only injured, but playing jack shit anyway, henry i dont see beeing as magical as he can be, and most recent games beeing decided by young Bojan...only 17 y/o

^ Havent been following the injury crisis for barcelona.. although have been looking into the spanish results for them, Lets just say, Real Madrid had performed incredibly well in the 1st half of the season..but now looking at the situation barcelona and villarea are breathing down their necks. besides

Barcelona is underperforming but only for the last 1 month, some of their players are misfiring for sure but results matter and european club competetion is a different mindset from domestic leagus some teams are made for these competions for eg liverpool who always struggle in premier league, i guess its barcelona this season to do what liverpool does....hehe remember liverpool in 2005 when they won the champions league and finished 5th in the league ?

anyways how long are messi and deco out for ?            “What we need is the development of the Inner Spiritual man, the unique individual, whose treasure is hidden in the symbols of our mythological tradition and in man’s unconscious psych.” - CJ Jung

yeah well, Liverpool is a case where they have a history of always using cautious tactics, holding the game, happy with a 1-0 and not sad at all to go for a draw, which fits really well in such competition, kinda like Boca Juniors in SA...

Barcelona in the other side...they just dont fit on such description at all. and this season havent been the best for them either, even their coach is on the line, i even say he might be fired if they dont get thru to the semis, or finals...

and messi and deco should be back in time for the final...but i really dont see barcelona getting that far =/

i feel bad for Roma...last year and now again facing Man. U....last year there was that smashing 7-0, now this year they will prolly be going down again...better luck for them next time.           un-fucking-believable

I just wanna see Italian teams winning - and that's probably not going to happen now, so I lost interest in this league for this year.

hehehe maybe roma is not out yet, last year Man-u beat them 7-1 maybe this year AS roma will bash them 0-5 hehehe

Next season we will see the best italian clubs in this competition with Juventus returning along with Internaizonale of milan and As Roma, the 4th pplace is still up for grabs but the contenders are mighty Ac milan and former argentinian great gabriel batistuta's club Fiorentina... both european powerhouses.

btw fiorentina is also in the quarterfinal of Uefa Cup this year.            “What we need is the development of the Inner Spiritual man, the unique individual, whose treasure is hidden in the symbols of our mythological tradition and in man’s unconscious psych.” - CJ Jung

I think that confront between Liverpool X Arsenal is going to take one of them to the finals.
IMO, these two teams are showing the best football around.

And I guarantee you, the winner will be an English team.

But what I really want, it's to see is Alex, from Fenerbahçe holding up the cup.

Rgds!

I hate Chelsea with passion...so go Fenerbahce!!!, however...the chances of this team are not that high...but at the end of the day this is footie and you never know, besides the won the first tie.

Arsenal-Liverpool...tough one, it's pretty much impossible to score against Liverpool on this particular tournament, but Arsenal is full of tricks, we'll see.

Barça-Schalke...well, Barcelona always manage to transform themselves for this competition...and let's face it, Schalke04 is not a very strong team, plus they blew it at home...BUT!!!

It's hard to recognize Barça this season, so I wouldn't go to over the moon about it, specially if they have to face Man U in the semifinal, no chances whatsoever...I would say.

Man U-Roma, Something very strange gotta happen in order to Roma for qualifying, but...nah, forget it, impossible...(fingers crossed anyway)

Of course it is...I wanted them to make it, but I knew it was totally impossible.

Fuck...Chelsea is strong, I hate to admit it, but gosh...they're tough motherfuckers.

Liverpool-Arsenal, again...no surprise whatsoever here.

So...yet again, Liverpool-Chelsea on a semifinal.

I wonder if Chelsea would be, finally, able to pull it off...I hope so, because in the highly unlikely chance that we got to eliminate Man U, I rather face Chelsea on a final than Liverpool.
