I only have experience with Cubase so can't comment on FL or Pro Tools.
The UAD2 solo has on average around 2.5X the performance of the UAD1 cards.
Works just like any other plugin, except instead of using your cpu they use the cards instead.

1: put card in computers free pci-x slot (1x/2x or 4x)
2: Install drivers and plugins (one file)
3: start host (live, logic, cubase etc.)
4. open desired UAD-plugin - it will run on the dsp-card and not use your CPU.
5. All OTHER plugins will NOT run on the DSP card.
6. UAD- PLugins will involve latency. depending on your system latency. most hosts will compensate this latency.
7. UAD- card comes with some ok plugins, but most good plugins have to be purchased seperately.
8. most uad cards come with vouchers which will allow you to buy some plugins.
9: UAD Plugins usually cost between 100-300USD.
10. UAD Plugins are very high quality.
11. UAD-1 has very little power. only runs VERY FEW of some newer plugins like neve.
12. Definitly buy UAD-2 not UAD-1 - except if very low price second hand. (2008)
I think that pretty much covers it.. maybe belongs into mother of DSP cards. thread.

If you're looking to jump the UAD bandwagon without a lot of cash then the best deal right now is to get a UAD1 Flexi Pak (available for $296 from jrrshop).
You will get $500 in vouchers with it, plus:
$150 when you register it
$50 current promotion
So you will get $700 in vouchers to buy plugins for a total cost of $296 & this deal expires on the 31st.

And it got me all the info I wanted! Great and thanks a ton.
I thought you could use it for all plugins. That and your reminder Bandarlog make the whole thing pointless for me, at least until IL gets their shit together...

want to order from jrr shop
but i see it at a price of 350. not 295
is there some type of deal or something?

So, lets see, which UAD do you wanna buy and where are you located?
most of UAD1 cards are sold out in germany..
UAD 2 just a few available..

You need to type 'group' in the coupon field, this will give you a 15% discount on $350.
If you order now with Jrrshop & show UAD proof of your purchase they will still honor your vouchers even after 31st December.
