Anyone using this and what are your thoughts? Ive played around with the demo a little bit and think its got an awesome sound. Do you it useful for psychedelic stuff? Haven't played around enough to dig in deeper and explore it. Ive been waiting for Dune 2 to come out to make a decision between the two and it looks like you can bundle Dune 1 and 2 for about $20 more than Diva. So, would you go with Diva or Dune if you had the choice.

^spire is even more a Virus wanabe, it's got emulations of its filters - the "infecto" ones.

all things u-he are great. but zebra 2 doesn't have zero latencyfeedback filters on it, it can be made to sound very analogue non-the-less, but it excels with more daring sound design approaches; if you're looking for the closest to the real thing possible, analogue sound, then diva would be the way to go. this new dune 2 seems like a very cool bread-and-butter instrument, and it goes way beyond the Virus scope - and I own one - in that you can build much more complex patches, there's some DX style routing (like the old fm patch algorithms), plus coupled with ZLF filters it can sound very analogue indeed. the unisson on this thing is a beast, it's been so from version 1 and is easily overlooked.

the fx are actually selectable as destinations, so it's a whole different story rather then just cosmetics to apply to a sound, it can be an integral part of the sound design - plus it doesn't sound bad at all. sometimes synthesizers have very cool effects, like the reverb in Aalto a lot - would actually pay for it if they made a stand alone version of it.

also think dune is a much more capable beast then sylenth, spec wise. you have a much more flexible routing, you have very good fm implementation, you have one of the best unisson implementations on any VA (including hardware yeah), multi-mode envelopes, so forth and so on... sylenth is great at what it does, think of it like the good old mono synths that have THAT sound and whose limitations are actually cool 'cause you can do what you want with it in next to no time...

ok, so another very good bread and butter one is Diversion: has all this things on it and it's a very very capable beast. one of the best software instruments, if you ask me; along with Zebra.

Thanks all for the replies. Ive had a bit more time with Diva and Im taking the plunge! It just sounds so good and I really like the layout. I have Dune CM plus a virus c so I think Ill stick with those for anything I can't get from Diva.

Diva is a good choice to work with!
Nice to hear that you stick to a minimum plugs/tools to work. This is the best way to work if you ask me, you can take the most of your tools with that way cause you work with em every day.           ...into the wild....

Yeah Ive "tried" tons of plugs in the past and I never got to learn any of em which hurt more than helped. Got rid of everything and I bought Halion 5, which is awesome btw, and now Diva and will focus on using just these with the virus and xox. So excited to dig deeper into this synth

Any synth can be used for psytrance, is about creativity.

Diva sounds gorgeous, problem is it's cpu use.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

yeah, it's crazy, right? I still think there's room for having both: diva is more about that old vintage kind of sound, at the cost of a bigger cpu hit - not a major problem, 'cause you'd have to record the analogue to audio as well - you didn't have presets on them anyway...

but this one is a much more easy on the cpu kind of beast and is able to do some stuff that doesn't easily come by in software, and it sounds absolutely amazing to my ears! if you buy it now, there's a link for that in the KVR page, btw, there's like a 30% cut on price, making it 63€ only, which is a no brainer, I think...

funny thing is: Zebra 3 seems well on its way, due to come later this year or beginning of the next. This guys rock big time!
