and...excuse me...what is this 28 days crap about ?
I would love to know if any serious rock artist playing at the Brixton Academy is payed 28 days later...aahahahahah....
I guess instead they recieve an advance 28 days before the gig...
Come on boys...be honest with yourself...you are trying hard to hit the mainstream...so play the game following the rules of bussiness...and not hiding yourself back in the underground when you do a flop like you did in the academy...
It's vey easy to fill up a huge line-up knowing that you wil screw up most of it in case of disaster,,,just because you belong to the psy underground family...

IF you had been involved in any sort of proper or business transactions you would understand basic terms of trading - i have dealt with companies that do 60 or even 90 day terms - most record companies only start to pay 6 months after your music has been released but then you would know that already i suppose
but here we go - perhaps this will steer you onto a more educated path for the slightest chance you make it so far in business

OK since you want to talk about that, the rules on PF allow for almost complete freedom of speech, but not where that extends to insults or personal attacks, which your post was deemed to be by a majority vote by the admin team. These are simple rules that may or may not apply here; I don't know, and it doesn't matter. What I do know is that these guidelines have to be agreed upon by any prospective new member before we allow you to sign up, which means YOU agreed to them yourself, and your feisty friend/you/whoever HPD actually is, were aware of prior to breaking them.
Like I said earlier, nothing wrong with debating, raising issues with the organisers, saying what you did/didn't like about the party etc. That's how we learn, grow, do it better next time, and so on and so forth. But that's not what you are doing. You are raising personal issues on a public forum and slagging people off again for having the *rolls eyes* audacity to respond with the kind of contempt any one of us would feel upon having their good name and hard work besmirched by shitty, unconstructive, spiteful comments.
It's not like you're going to get very far kicking and screaming anyway; you're only going to turn people off any real message you have to express. As I would say to my eight year old twins in a situation like this, blummin' well grow up lad!

As far as i can see - most of the issues here are not uncommon when a gig bombs and there's been some break down in communications. Personally I think most of the finance issues here should have been sorted out in private - airing dirty laundary does no one any favours.
However I would say that *any* forum can be cliquey and certain lables/promoters more favoured than others - thats just the way it is when moderators voluntarily give up their time on a forum, and some are also are involved with "the scene" in some shape or from - of course they are going to be more defensive towards their mates - c'est la vie... if you dont like it use another forum...
Anyway - without wanting to be too boring and actually talk about the music - how was Nick Barbers sets as Nick Doof and Third Ear, and what was Greg Hunter like?

Right lets clear this up once and for all.
Firstly... i fucked up. Out of the whole lineup... i neglected to warn Justin and Josko that there would be no cash at the venue. Partly due to being extremely busy and partly because they are/were mates and I thought they'd understand. My bad.
When confronted by hissy fit number 1 (and fair enough due to a few previous failed gigs with low fees) i went and got Josko his fee from the Twisted Merch Stall which came DIRECTLY out of my pocket in the end. His fee should have been paid by the promoter which is why I was reluctant to do it at first.
I was not authorised to give Justin his full fee in cash on the day (which i understand is a fucker if you've come from abroad) and couldn't take any more from the Twisted Stall as by that point I had handed the money over. I have since promised to pay him the rest of his fee from my own pocket seeing as the promoters pocket is empty.
These are the ONLY two artists who will receive their full fee's for this event.
What can I say. These people weren't part of the team and I shouldn't have expected them to behave as such.
I would like to apologise to Justin and Josko for not informing them exactly of the situation. I hope the situation now is resolved.
Josko

better being hissy than unprofessional if you ask me.
By the way i do accept the apologies.
Story over.
About Greg Hunter's set, he made a sort of backtoback with Darren, together they are Spectralite.
So most of tracks were from Spectralite incoming album, some of them brilliantly psychedelic with some real original structures, some of them with strong ethnic instrumentals influences. Beatiful deep stuff.
And everything was mixed up with some non-human sounds that Greg was modulating with a real time dj software.
Again, dream music.

tnx for the lesson...you know...I didn't come down from the tree yesterday,,,I have been dealing with proper bussiness transaction...from long time...much more serious ones than trance parties...and I have been doing promoter for gigs much bigger than the Twisted event in the past (Kraftwerk, Nirvana, Plastikman, Primus, Public Enemy, Dead Can Dance, Pixies, etc etc)...
NEVER seen a gig payed 28 days after...and the artist advancing the flight expenses...mmm....groovy new idea...
and about record companies...done few albums in my carrier with major and indie labels...always been payed in advance...often before the master was ready...
and yes...other bussiness transactions involving other kind of jobs, I got myself to deal with 30/60/90 days...but...again...never seen this for a gig before...
how naif I am...

you accused me of a RACIST post...just because I dare to say that is a typical english habit to not pay less important artists when a gig goes wrong...and punished me... you must know then that I got told about this from english pure race ppl...everytime I had some complains about the treatment reserved expecially to artists coming from abroad in uk...their answer was...THIS IS ENGLAND !
I love english ppl but I don't think I have anything to learn from them about racism!

As a totally neutral observer here who doesnt know anyone involved and is just enjoying the thread - I have to say floatinghippyflower that in all fairness nooone ever used bad language in this thread or lowered it to the level of insulting until Ott said "cockmonkey" and "arsehole" and then Psy_Mistic (who's obviously his mate) followed it up with "wanker". Yet they seem to be the ones you are stiking up for here. Its all there on Page 4.

Aside from all the arrogance being shown in this thread by some Twisted artists - let's not forget that many of us enjoyed the event for what it was - an event - one many old friends got together for, from the UK and from abroad.
Yes, the sound system was poor, but Brixton Academy is renowned for that, the aucoustic set-up there is for theatrical stage, not sound rigs - OK, an Opus rig would have sounded better, anyhooo...
Ott's well known for his moronic outbursts of foul tongue - cockmonkey was uncalled for - blame it on his lack of diet pills.
Inside-us-all/Pixel Addicts did an amazing job - the visuals actually MADE the night - cutting edge visual installation - hope to see more of that set-up again.
Here's a superb video made by Steve SuperBoss aka Magic Lantern Visuals -
Enjoy - and quit all the slagging off - it puts people OFF buying your new releases when you use foul language and behave like this.
Oh - and Ross - superb effort - hope the books balance.

I don't think any of the Twisted crew need sticking up for and if you that's what you think I'm doing, you're kinda missing the point a bit. Take another look ar page four. You'll find hot potato dongle calling me (and my fellow enjoyees) "idiots" for being "deluded" enough to have actually had a good time, various members of the Twisted/related possee "muppets" and "ego-fuelled", as well as some priceless bits of "get a grip on what music is about once again" and "did you need to get a few compliments?" to some of psy's most consistantly creative contributers by pretty much anybody's standards. Just because he doesn't use the F-word or call anybody a "cockmonkey" doesn't mean the tone wasn't lowered right there and then, that it wasn't just as insulting to people like myself and SMN who enjoyed the show, and those who worked hard to get the evening organised. Since that post, there have been at least three references to "fat"/"diet"/"bulldog regarding another member, and a slice of sarcasm so thick it that I'm starting to wonder where the custard is. Perhaps cast in that light, some of the more colourful responses to the likes of Maux (who by his admission, wasn't even there for fuck's sake!) and the elusive HPD are more understandable to you??

"I" did not accuse you, "we" the team infracted you. What, to tarnish all promoters in my country with your sour little brush based on nothing more than their nationality isn't racist?
Insert the word "Indian" or "black" or "Pakistani" or "Arab" or *whatever* in place of "England"/"English" and it would be considered racist without question and there would be an uproar. Posts like that are moderated all the time both on PF and on Isra, as I'm sure you will have witnessed yourself. Be under no illusions that what you said was no better just because we have a lot of white people and live in a relatively affluent country.

Clearly not. You're doing quite well all by yourself.
Anyway, enough troll-feeding for one day. I'm off to the park for a run about! Be gentle with each other! (Arf!!) XX

A thread about a psy gig isnt really the time or place to into the nature of rascism and its relation to power or lack of it within a soceity - but I do not feel you can really compare the use of the word "English" here to that of "pakistani" or "Black" - it *is* VERY different.
Anyway... did anyone see Nick Doof?
