Tsunami!!!

The current subject of every acidhead around the East Coast's controversy.

Well, let me contribute my bit. I've been for alot of Tsunami parties. None in 2003 but like 2 in 2001 and 4 in 2002. Firstly, not one of them was even close to as good as a Synthetic Sadhus party. From the artists, to the backdrops, their organization just doesn't seem to be up to the mark. Reading everything you boys have written here, it doesn't seem like alot has changed in 2003. I'm sure they could have got a better artist than Astral Projection. In 2002 they had Hallucinogen and Infected Mushroom. This may be a bias, but I love Posford. However, I agree that Tsunami tends to bring the more commercial acts in rather than more STOMPING!

After so many complaints and bad reviews, I'm sure the attendance at their parties will be affected! Good to see everyone being open and honest! It's by working together that we can bring money making organizations like Tsunami to a stand-still.......

Can someone explain to me how you consider the music to be commercial when such a small percentage of people world-wide listen to it? If you are commercial then you are making the music for the money. If you were making the music for the money then would you produce music that would be purchased by a wider audience? Astral Projection would not be producing psytrance if they were concerned with the commercial. Also, ever hear of the saying, “don’t cut your nose off to spite your face?” Before you turn your back on Tsunami, I would consider who were the first people to throw a psytrance party in NYC? You should not be so quick to turn your back on Tsunami. Furthermore, there aren’t enough people throwing “full-scale” psytrance parties in NYC. What I mean by a full-scale party: either, at the party there is a producer or there is a DJ who can actually DJ (not a DJ who just window mixes, I will not name names but you know who you are, I hate that shit). So stop complaining, hopefully everything will turn out ok; I will not become consumed with pessimism yet. I am just happy to go to one more psy party in NY.

Its simple. Tsunami is good because they produce big psytrance parties in ny. They are bad because lately theyve been charging high prices and not coming through etc etc etc
Personally im going to go to this party and ill relate the news back to y'all. i only paid 15 for my ticket, and for a party till 8 that isnt bad. ppl can change their ways.

Here's the good and the bad from the party last night...
When we first arrived to Arc the situation looked pretty bleak; many unfamiliar and unfriendly faces... Furthermore, the music was absolutely terrible. Mind of the Demented was spinning some disgusting sort of epic club psy trance (I hated it and was having a hard time even staying for the party); even worse, he was acting so obnoxious up there. I just didn't care for his style whatsoever-- and what it appeared to me that he stood for.
Anyway, all of that aside... Astral Projection came on and spun a pretty solid DJ set --- kind of neutralized the damage that MOD had done early on. By the time AP came on for the live set, things got great. It was my first experience with them at a party live...The set was amazing; people were really into it--lots of smiling faces and a good time!!! The party ended at 8:15.
So what turned out to be a potentially scary night ended up being a terrific party.

i agree. MoD was weak. I wouldnt go far as to say abnoxious but i didnt enjoy their set very much. AP are masters and they showed it last night. Even at Arc, which in perspective is not a great place to have parties simply because it is a big dancing space. The psy experience is about more than ONLY dancing. Chillout areas at arc are just not conducive to chilling out. They are too stark. This is only my opinion. But anyway Avi and Lior spun wicked dj sets and then a live pa in which the dancefloor shook. yoni then came on and did his late night bulldozing work. Ahh on the subway i couldnt get that GMS requiem for a dream remix out of my head.           ein chadash tachat hashemesh. there is nothing new under the sun. --kohelet.

Hello all, I am sorry that alot of you feel this way about Tsunami. I started djing with TSUNAMI a few months back, I am Mantis of Minds of Demented. H e gave the the chance of a lifetime to spin NYC so I give him madd props. Anyway I can ashure you that there have been many things going on behind the scenes that I don't know about but I do know that some people are not coperating and it makes it hard on John. In the next months tis is going to take off, i believe that since ARC is closing down that the parties are going to be moved to Avalon. If you have questions or concerns please e-mail me and I will ask John and get an answer for you. If anything I would like you to come hear us spin and tell us what you think. Habve a great turkey day!! Peace.

Ok zero and your buddy there. I can guarentee you can't name one track from the first hour that I spun. Normally I don't get upset when people who have no clue what they are saying run their jibs. Just so you know Yoni, Avi, and Lior all said they thought the set was great, and quite frankly you don't belong coming to Tsunami parties since so many thiings are so bad. Godd luck with the rest of your life. Peace. Please come see me at the next party, I'll be more than happy to speak with you.

Also by reading your posts you mentioned GMS, half of both our sets were 1200Mics, Spuns Zero, Meliocia, Dynamic to name a few, but you just keep on listening to your happy morning trance and when your really ready for the new full on sound come back to the party. You are really pathetic. Sorry to the rest of you. If you are really a Dj, or producing please feel free to give your comments, but if you are at home spinning doing nothing and spend your days cracked out please refrain.

You have to be kidding me? I have no clue? Your set was terrible; literally, it was hard to stand. I almost left because of you! Now, I have a right to my opinion try not to take it too personal. What was the point of the question, "I can guarantee you can't name one track from the first hour that I spun?" First, I’m not even sure when you started so I am unsure of what was the first hour. Second, why would you ask me to ID tracks when I just finished writing how bad I thought you were? I don’t listen to that type of psytrance because I think it’s bad! I have a right to think you spin garbage psytrance (like GMS and 1200 Mics). I hate that shit, ESPECIALLY when it is abused. Also, it is my opinion that you shouldn't even be spinning stuff like that before the headliner comes on. So before you go assuming what I know and what I don't know, you shouldn't run your mouth. Your set was filled with one epic breakdown after another. I couldn't even believe you were able to find so many psytrance songs that were epic anthems; I have never heard anything like that before in my life. Now, I am going to give you some advice. Were you at the Ecliptic Trance party? Hopefully you were because you will be better able to understand. When Total Eclipse played “1200 Mics LSD” it was amazing; people were blown away (I know because I looked around at everyone faces, anyone else that did this will know what I am talking about). Now why was that? Why did “1200 Mics LSD” have such an effect? Because Total Eclipse was NOT throwing down one psy anthem after another! But when you spun “1200 Mics LSD,” it did nothing to the crowd because before that every track was an anthem. One more thing, don’t were a shirt with your DJ name on it, that is upsetting and arrogant. Could you imagine if Goa Gil wore a shirt with his name on it? Haha… Well, anyway sorry to offend you but I am entitled to my opinion and I am also entitled to voice it.

I appologise you are right , you have a right to post your opinion, however most of the 1200 mics was off the new album, and all new releases were played by Melicia, Dynamic, and so on. The good comments we got overide the bad, and I'm sorry you didn't like the set. I saw nothing but a whole floor dancing the whiole time, and lsd would not have been played except that Avi was not ready to come on yet and something needed played right away so that's what was grabbed. Anyway if your going to be negative you should try to be constructive about it. We are trying to build up the American scene and not that many "American" dj's are spinning at major partiesAmerican parties. Anyway again I should not have been so offensive, and your opinion is your right, so if you hate us that much just wait to come to the party till after we are done there are many whoi come see us and we aren't going away. I'll see the rest of you in Canada in January, then in Miami. Peace.

MANTIS, welcome to Isratrance, re-read the forum guidelines, especially about using slurs and personally attacking other users.
